I'm just curious how many of you celebrate ON the day of your birthday no matter what and how many will just celebrate on whatever day is convenient? Or how many don't celebrate at all?
Today (July 24th) is my birthday. I did have a small cake with my s/o an 4 of the kids but that was it. We celebrated on Saturday at my parents' house and then went out to dinner without any kids on Sunday. My s/o is working the night shift this week which is why we couldn't wait until today o do anything. There was just enough time for him to wake up, have a piece of cake with me and then leave for work. Now I'm alone and bored....

Awwww happy birthday foxy
I don't celebrate my birthday much any more i see it more as just another day and i tell my partner not to bother getting me anything because the money would be better spent on bills or food or the kids but she still goes and gets something.
I prefer not to make a fuss of it all any more i may not be old at 24 but i just don't see the point in it, it's ok for kids as they look forward to their presents etc and the same for christmas and easter but for me i'm just not fussed in the least, it's just another day and another year for me to get older so i'd rather not celebrate anything.

You sound just like my ex-hubby! I didn't really understand it at the time but now I kind of do. Just make sure you make a fuss over your partner on her birthday if she wants you to. Her fussing over you when you tell her not to might be her way of dropping hints that she wants the same on her birthday. It may mean that you're a year older but it also marks the end of another year you've made it through and that's always worth celebrating a little! Thanks redfang!

Happy Birthday to you! I guess it depends on what the definition of "celebrate" is? I celebrate on the day, the day before the day after, all week long. It's important for me to feel good on "the" day. I get all dressed up, I will do something just for me, go to bath & body works, treat myself/.. The most important thing for me is to send my mother a beautiful bouquet of flowers, after all, it is because of her that I am here! She loves the tradition and I love that I made her feel good about being my mom. When she calls, and she always does, she tells me all about the night I was born. I am 47 years old and I still love to hear the story.

My mother used to send her mother flowers on her own birthday too. I will be 45 this year but my mother can't remember even what TIME I was born. My sister gave me an idea of approximately what time because she remembered she was getting ready for bed when Dad came home and told them. I might send my mother flowers on my birthday if I could afford it, but I can't.

How sweet and nice of you! Thanks, you gave me an idea-to give a bouquet of flowers to my mother on my birthday. I guess it should be our simple way of saying thank you for giving birth to us. I know that it would definitely make me feel better. I rarely say thank you to my parents, so I guess this is a perfect time for me to say how thankful I am that they brought me here in this world.

Hubby and I often delay our birthday celebrations until the weekend due to having to work the next morning! Ha! We will wait until Fri or Sat night and go out to eat and have a few drinks. Or we will go to a nearby town and do something (as there is little to do in this one!) He is such a sweetie though, that even if we have agreed to delay going out, on the day of my birthday he will usually give me flowers at home or have my secretary put some in my office for him!

Sounds like you have a really sweet hubby there! This was the first time since we've been together that he had to work and couldn't get off ON my birthday which is probably why it felt so strange to not be doing anything. That's probably one of the few good things about working 12 hour swing shift...he only has to go to work 7 mornings a month LOL.

HAPPY HAPPY Birthday foxyfire! I usually celebrate mine on the day but if my husband is busy then we postpone it till the weekend. Either way, as long as we enjoy a day or evening of it, it's fine with me.
My son turns 5 in two days and since my hubby is away overseas, he wants me to take him to the park for a picnic, so fingers crossed the weather is nice, and we will bike to the park (which takes about 20 mins or so) and have a lovely picnic and make a day of it. I will still bake a small cake for us too :)

Thanks maddysmommy! Happy birthday to your son too! A picnic birthday sounds really nice. If the weather doesn't cooperate you could still do a picnic inside. At 5 he'll just be happy that you TRIED to do something really special even if it isn't quite what he was hoping for.

I do celebrate my birthday every year without fail. Even though I forget my birthday, my family will definitely remember it and will do the things needed to celebrate my birthday.
Even this years just happened like this only. I’m glad that I have such a good family that cares about me.

no, i never force myself to celebrate my b'day on my b'day itself if it is not convenient... i don't think it is that important anyway... i hardly celebrate my b'day anymore because i think it is just a waste of money which can be use for other better purposes... i am very flexible...

Wish you a very Happy Birthday and I hope that all your inner desires and wishes come true :)
Frankly I celebrated my last birthday some 4 years back and after that I would just buy a small cake and put a candle on top and sing Happy Birthday to myself and then that was it!

Happy Birthday! I sincerly believe in celebrating birthdays - that is a celebration of life, another year that you've made it through alive. But we usually wait until the weekend for a big celebration. On the day of the birthday, there is usually a card and a hug, but either the weekend before or the weekend after is when we have friends and family over, or go out.

Happy Birthday foxyfire!(",)
I'm used to not celebrating my birthday as long as my family and friends greeted me then its fine with me. If we have the money for food, usually it's spaghetti, pancit and lechon chicken.
Nothing special, just ordinary day but someday when I have the money, I would love to celebrate my birthday in the beach.
Again, happy birthday!(",) May God blessed you with a hundred more birthdays ahead.

So sorry i missed your birthday. Happy birthday for the other day. July 24 is my mothers birthday as well. I dont really do anything for my birthday. I try to not do any housework though, and have a restful day. We usually order something for tea so i dont have to cook. But thats about it.
Best wishes to you, foxy

Hi! As a Kid,I used to love celebrating my Birthday, party games, gifts & what not! But today, I have my own silent way of celebrating it. I would go to the TEMPLE in the Morning, & then go to an orphanage or home & share with them with whatever I can, Thank GOD for everything HE has given me & come back home & relax; for my Birthday always falls on a HOLIDAY! In the evening, if all agree, we go out for s DINNER or else be at home.

Belated Happy Happy Birthday!! Mine is May 27.I celebrate my birthday, but that would depend on what day if falls. If it is on a weekday, I celebrate it with my officemates. My husband just prepares a simple lunch for them. I don't usually take a leave on my birthday because I don't want my officemates to think that I am not gonna give them free lunch. Then on the following, weekend, that is when I celebrate my birthday with my family so we can all be together. We prepare lunch and dinner for the whole family. But if my birthday falls on a weekend, it is the other way around. I celebrate it with my family on that very day, then with my officemates on the following working day.

Happy birthday to you, foxyfire! And may you have many more birthdays to come!
Well, I usually do not celebrate my birthday too; it is usually the same as any other day for me. I can’t even remember how I spent the day of my birthday this year. I just know that I was with my significant other that day and that at least most of my friends did not forget to greet me on my ‘special’ day. These at least made me happy. I was not expecting gifts from them but I expected them to at least remember that it’s my birthday. And I wasn’t disappointed:P
