I was just wondering how many of my fellow mylotter like wild meat. Like moose and dear, ducks, rabbit and elk that type of thing. I know my parents and my boyfriend likes it but i just cant eat it. I dont like the gamey taste of it for some reason and i can get past the fact of eating bambi or thumper either. How do you feel about thumper and bambi or does that bother you. If you do like wild meat do u have any favorite ways or recipes to eat them that you would like to share? Do they serva wild venison at restaurants in your area i think that if there was a restaurant in our area that did use wild meat in there dishes that they would make a killing because alot of people are big eaters of it and would love to be able to get it more readily and would not have to prepare it thereselves so what do you think about that?

I am not a Bambi or Thumper eater either. I think that there have been times that I may have eaten one or the other though. I have eaten meat befor that looked like chicken and was really good, but I don't believe I want to know what it was. My boyfriend had brought home a plate of food from a party that his boss had. His boss was Jewish. The meat was very good, but to this day, I have no idea what it was and I don't want to know.

If you eat meat you are eating something that has been a pet or been named in some story or movie. I think you are trying to make a statement with the Bambi thing and it is false to you and your meaning.

I think that you are reading way too much into my statement. It has nothing to do with the fact that these animals were in famous movies. I don't think that I have ever seen the movie Bambi. The reason I don't eat these meats is because I was not raised on them.

i know lots of people who can eat wildmeats. and they say, they do love doing so. they even go to restaurants serving wildmeat dishes just to have it. i only eat pork, beef and chicken meat. i can never eat wildmeats. whenever i go to places, parties, gatherings, etc, i always ask first what the food is before putting it inside my mouth. it might look delicious but at the moment i hear it's wildmeat, i just can't take it. maybe it's on my subsconscious that i can never eat bambi, etc! anne

I guess I'm with you....not that I have anything against chickens, fish, or cows, but there are just some animals I couldn't eat as well...like you a bambi/thumper complex....and being part Native American, my ancestors did eat deer..just can't do I once did eat pheasant...just to try...it was all right, nothing great...but then I saw how beautiful that bird is and said, okay, strike that off my list of things to eat as well--I've heard buffalo is a good meat to eat, less in fat and chloresterol --and believe it or not do sell at a supermarket near me..might try it once to see...

I was raised up on wild game and so I can still eat it at times but not all the time. I use a product that is called "game tame" in and on my dishes for wild game and the stuff works great. It takes the gamey taste out of it. I have also marinated steaks from wild game in itailin dressing. Liquid smoke is my brothers favorate seasoning. My mom used to use brown gravy over the meats. For the burger mix the game tame into the ground meat. If you can the meat it all tastes like a beef roast with no game taste in it. There was a resturent down it florida that had exotic dishes on the menu. They even had rattlesnake. It was very pricey but there were alot of people there. You had to have a reservasion to get in. I had the rattlesnake and it was really good tasting. We have one here in Michigan that serves turtle - froglegs - venision - bear - elk - rabbit - squarel - duck - rabbit - moose - buffalo but it is only a once a year wild game feast. We go there every year. But anyways try seasonings for wild game or do a search for recipes. hugs

Hi kitkat! I was once deceived by my husband in eating an exotic dish. He told me it's just an eel and it turned out to be a snake, what kind?, I never bothered to ask because i got freaked out. And yes there are a couple of restaurants in our area which serves this kind of dishes. My husband and most friends frequent them often but I don't. I never acquired the taste of it. Have a nice day!

Moose, bunny, elk, ducks---- NO—On occasion I will have deer sausage- My grandpa makes it- or made it- he is gone now- I prefer to not eat it- They say if cooked right venison tastes wonderful- I have never cooked it- We do not hunt- My sig. other isn’t a wild game eater either- and my daughter freaks when she even thinks about it- : ) I know deer meat is so much better for you- Hardly any fat- so better on the hips and the cholesterol- lol.. but no thanks- I’ll take my steaks and chicken wings!

I love it. I would also think if you didnt know its origin a lot of your taste ideas would disappear. I think that a lot of places let us sample it. I also think that the leaner meat makes it a much healthier choice than fattened beef and chicken. If it was commercialized more it would change what the product was because eventually they would farm it.

I've only had deer a couple of times, but I absolutely loved it. It was just so good. I wish I knew someone who hunted so I could buy some meat off of them every year. My step-dad hunts, but he's in New Jersey, I'm in Colorado. I'm not gonna ask my parents to ship meat to me so that I can have some deer (or whatever else he manages to get).

My boyfriend of eleven years is a major hunter and eats partridge, geese, all types of fish, deer, moose, rabbits you name it he probably scarfed it down. I never liked it when I used to eat meat. But he just loves it. He does all the cleaning up at his family home and I never see it because he knows I get sad. But once it is "prepared" for cooking he can bring it here. Vicki
