Ok so you all know we found 3 kittens that were feeding off their momma that was dead last weekend and we took them in to help them. Well now it seems there is this sign or something on my yard saying all baby kittens come here they will feed you. I have one outside my door right now that cries everytime it hears me walk by. Yes I did look at it to make sure it wasn't hurt and it seems healthy and well enough to be on it's own. That however doesn't get it to go away from my door. To my knowledge it wasn't fed by us unless it ate some of the dog's food in the back yard. I also know I will probably have to set some food and water out if it doesn't go away on it's own because it is supposed to be really hot out today and I would hate to see an animal suffer in this weather. So ok when do I say enough is enough Tricia you can not take care of anymore strays? Keep in mind we have 3 dogs we have taken in and 2 other cats. So a total of 8 animals. No we do not live on a farm this is all in town.

well, you do what you gotta do... i have a houseful at the moment... i'm fostering 8 kittens plus 3 that might be blind. they know a loving soul and maybe that's why they come to you. i'd go on and start feeding the one outside... that way you'll know he's eating and got water... and you'll feel better having done that too.

I feel for you. If we didn't live in an apartment we would have gotten a momma kitty with 6 babies in tow not that long ago.

I leave food out for strays to get but I am in a rural place and already have three cats of our own. They were all strays I found too. It is getting so well known that I find homes for stray kittens and feel the veril cats that people dump their unwanted near my house. I live right by the woods so it isn't too much to leave out some food and water and they can go... But I have had to break up some tom fights ETC. If you start feeding the cats outside they will just keep coming and more will come. Doesn't sound like you can do that and if I had 8 pets of my own I don't think I could eiter. If it looks healthy it could be a neighbors cat that is getting fed but just is being a pig. I had a few of those Garfields around. If it isn't a neighbors pet thouh I would have to call animal control to get it removed and while you wait you can get the kitty some food and water. Vicki

I understand all too well. I own cats myself and have not taken in any strays for quite awhile now, but for some reason no matter where we live there are always cats lurking. Don't get me wrong I love animals, but why my house? I dont feed or pet them; they dont need it. But yet they come. I have ,at any given time, at least 2 cats in my yard and I live on a very busy street. Plus I swear that the house we moved into has a hole on the side that is shaped like a cat, as if its some sign saying "strays take refuge here." I have no advice on how to keep them from coming, but take solice in knowing that your not alone when it comes to felines being drawn to your home.
