I'm making a dress up chest for my little girls. What should I put in it? How could I set it up? Any ideas are welcome? Where could I get the stuff for it?

The dress-up chest we had when we were little was an old traveling chest/trunk sat at the foot of the bed like a bench. When we wanted to dress up we opened it up and it was full of moms old: dresses slips nightgowns heels shoes necklaces earrings bracelets scarves hats gloves purses

I know little girls love those,my grandaughter has one and her mommy used an old dressing table.also she shopes the second hand stores for jewlery, shoes, costumes, dresses, and purses, often times she finds crowns and wigs they seem to like wigs. It sounds like a good time and would love to see some pictures when you get her all set up.

Toys r us have tons of lil girl dress ups. Another good timeto collect them is after Halloween when they put all that stuff on sale you can get some really great deals. WHen I was a kids our dress ups where our mom's old clothes and these 3 inch shoes. We were never allowed to wear them up the steps. My mom put our stuff in these big pink barrles. Not sure if you could fine something like that now. Good luck they will have so much fun!

I love dress up boxes as a child and am looking forward to getting one for my daughter. You could use an ottomen (chest with open top lid that usually stores bed linen etc) and fill it with beads, old cheap jewellery, clip on earrings etc, plastic shoes or your old shoes, dresses and bits of netting for veils. Headwear from toy shops and wigs and anything that's sparkly, bits of ribbon etc. I hope this has given you a few ideas.
