I would like to take up photography as a hobby but since this hobby is quite expensive I will have to content myself with a digital camera. Problem is, I am a point and shoot photographer. Like for example this photo that I have taken a few days ago, can the reflection of light be avoided? I would like to learn some tricks on how to take great photos. Any tips? --sorry, forgot to attach the photo the first time--

hi there, mari_skye! :) we are just the same, i just decided that i would take up photography as a serious hobby. but the problem is, im such a dummy when it comes to photography. there was a time when our family went to a trip in mount mayon, and then i was the one who was tasked to take a picture of my family with the perfect shape of mount mayon in the background. when the oicture was developed, the volcana was split in half, but my family was in the picture. all of them. they were really annoyed because the most important object in the picture, the perfect shaped volcano, was split in half. so that just goes to prove that im a bit of a dumdum when it comes to photography. but that happened about 5 years ago. for now, i am planning to buy a digicam of my own, not those expensive ones for sure, because i am just a beginner. maybe a 5megapixel cam would do. :) but im saving up for it though. :) what about you? what kind of digicam do you have? and how many megapixels does it have? thank you and good day! :)

That was funny, LOL! But I guess we learn from our mistakes. I too had my disaster photos and I still make some of them now. Thank God for the digicam, at least I don't have to waste film. I bought my canon digicam two years ago for P11,000.00. A powershot A430 model with 4.0 megapixels. It suits me quite well. My officemate also bought her camera just recently, it is a sony digicam, I am not sure about the specs but it has a better resolution. It cost her about P13,000.00. Not bad.

well, first of all, try NOT to use flash when taking photos. EVER! use it ONLY when you REALLY REALLY have to. try gettin' yourself a tripod (the most cheap one), and use that tripod. you will see that the tripod is one of the best camera accesories. Or, if you don't have a tripod, try taking that shot in a good light (at noon, for example) in a room with a large window. Try it and post the result. good luck!

Hey, thanks for that suggestion. I have never really thought of buying a tripod. Now I think I will consider it.
