What can you eat while breastfeeding?

There are so many things that people say you can't eat while breastfeeding. Beans, onions, garlic, spaghetti, lemons, spicy food. I tried to get a list of things you should eat off of the internet but I can't seem to find a list. Anyone know where I can find a list of the things you shouldn't eat while breastfeeding? I don't want my baby to have an upset stomach.

I guess I was lucky. None of my keds ever reacted to anything I ate. I had onions and spaghetti. You just need to watch to see if your little one reacts to anything. Don't cut yourself off from all your favorite foods (in moderation) before seeing if they bother her or not.

I tried to incorporate my favorite foods into my diet a little at a time. I enjoy broccoli and cauliflower and it is very healthy for you too. I only did this once the baby was about 6 months old. They were alreayd starting solid foods at that time. If they got gassy, I stopped eating the food. There weren't many that I couldn't eat. Aside from chili and baked beans that is.

I completely agree with Mylittletribe's response. I also ate everything I usually did before I became pregnant, but the key was doing it in moderation. My son never seemed to have any problems, but I know that some babies are in fact very sensitive to their mother's diet. As a vegetarian, beans are an essential part of my diet, so I really could not stay away from them, but it was not a problem for my son either, which probably had something to do with the fact that I ate beans, while I was pregnant as well.
