I have had a dog named Dragon because I love Dragons, a dog named Patches because he was a dalmation and he had patches from the mix that he was, and now we have a shihtzu named Katie. When we got her she was already named and seeing as she is 2 we didn't want to switch her name on her. I did have a few cats before I found out I was alergic and I also had a rabbit named Casper, a hedgehog named Hedgie, and I've been through I don't know how many fish lol.

I completly forgot about Hedgie hehe, he was cute...I can understand what you mean about not wanting to change an anmials name at 2 years of age Our hamster came with the name tennis ball even though he not a dog and being called by his name all the time lol...I tried to change it but kept calling him tennis ball..so it stuck...Fish oh boy I hear that lol...

Some of the names I have named my pets have gotten me some of those looks, that would slightly hint that I could have possibly fallen off my rocker many moons ago. lol Just to name a few of my cats names: Moonshadow, Starshine, Silversted, Hiss-a-lot, Muckles, Skyebye, Squeakeretta. I've had a few to many cats in my lifetime, but I love them all. I miss the ones that have gone off to play and romp in kitty heaven.

Katie - Our cute shihtzu Katie after being clipped!
I am alergic to cats so I have always been more of a dog person myself. My shihtzu Katie is really nice and great with kids. She is my daughters best friend and they are practically inseperable. I will enclose a pic for you. It was taken right after she went to the groomers. I barely noticed her after getting clipped, after a shihtzu gets clipped they just looks so small with all of that hair gone lol.

hugzzz jeweled those are some unique names for sure...That got me to thinking about Maxi...My first cat I mentioned..He was a night hawke loved running around the town I used to live in...He got out once when my husband came over to visit this was before we got back together...I didn't see him for a week...I was out visiting a friend one night that lived a block away...And My son and I were talking and then all of a sudden I heard this meow..It was dark out sure enough I saw this cat under a street lamp across the street...I was like no way couldn't be...So i walked over to him sure enough was my Maxi then sadness sunk in...He was hurt...He heard us and called for us someone ran him over or something cuz his pelvis was broken I later found out the next day at the vet...He had to be put down..MY son was so devastated cuz that is the first cat we owned I never could have a cat before my sister allergic...I finally brough myself to get Jep and they were identical in color but CoCo the odd ball....

My dogs name is Sassy. I wanted to name her Sasafras and my husband said no. I was wanting something unusual. So then I came up with Sassy. I added Sue for her middle name as his mother name was Sue and my Aunt's name is Sue. So her name is Sassy Sue. We also used to have a dog named B.J, Theo (from the cosby show), Dutches, and Sundrop.

we run a cat rescue and when we intake more than one cat at a time we go with themes. Years ago when we intaked two kittens which I ended up adopting myself are named Merriweather and Cleo. I remembered wrong and thought the cat in Pinnochio was Cleo, but that ws Figaro. My niece loves to remind me I named my cat after a fish. We have named cats after trees, spices, English and Gaelic names-- you can peruse our on petfinder and see the 500 names we have come up with-- yes we have repeated ourselves a time or two.

My dearest cat who is no longer with us was named Agatha because she was a bit of a snob when we took her in as a stray. She lived a ripe old age and in the end we nick named her Scraggy Aggy as her fur was grey and her miaow sounded like she was smoking forty a day!! Oh, I miss her so much. I have 2 more Lizzie and Jess..sweet names my kids gave to them. I like the name Tennis ball, thats funny!!

Mine aren't terribly unusual-my 3 cats are Loki(god of mischief), Darla(little rascal), and Grace. The pup in the pic is Georgia. (so, yes, I have George and Gracie. :)But...I grew up with bulldogs-Butkus, (KO) Bertha May, Nancy (Lily N. Magill)*- and currently, my folks have Alice Faye, the movie star. And 3 kitties of their own-(lovely) Rita (meter maid), Simon, and Penelope. We also used to have a dachsund named Wizard-after the Pinball Wizard in the Who's Tommy. My family kinda had (has) a thing for 60s/70s rock. lol. Heck, even I was named after a 70s song... *Nancy was so named for the line in The Beatles' "Rocky Raccoon"-"Her name was Magill, she called herself Lil, and everyone knew her as Nancy." She was the sweetest, friendliest bully I have ever known. :)
