At home or in a theater?

Where do you prefer to watch movies? I like both. It depends on the movie. If it is something that I am really looking forward to, I want to see it at the theater first to experience it on the big screen. But, this doesn't happen often. Which do you prefer?

i like both too, and like you, it depends on the movie as well. if i really wanna see that movie and have been anticipating it and it's like a big blockbuster movie, then i'd go to the cinema to watch it. if i wanna catch the movie but it doesn't have such good reviews, then i'll probably just watch it at home, not worth the money hehe..

Very true. :D With ticket prices what they are today, it's not worth it to see many movies at the theater any more.

Getting Netflix makes it really easy to watch movies in house. We pop our own popcorn. Much cheaper. Also for the 24 dollars I spend on Netflix monthly for 4 movies at least a week make it a very good deal. Especially with the fuel prices.
We still try to make it to the drive in though since that is an experience and they are still a good priced drive in.

We don't have a drive in close by. I remember when I was growing up my parents would take my brother and I to the drive in. It was great. We always fell asleep before the movie was over, though.

I usually prefer to watch my movies at home. Going to the theater is so expensive these days. Plus I like the added comfort of my couch and I can pause, rewind and all that other stuff. And I like the extras that DVDs have. The special features where they sometimes have out takes or the making of.

That is so true. There is so much convenience in watching movies at home. There have been very few that I really wanted to see in the theater. As you say, it's just too expensive.

Mostly I prefer to watch at the theatres, mainly becouse of the big screen and the tasty but expensive popcorns ^^.
But nothing beats waking up, oh its raining outside, grabbing the 10 horror movies u rented yesterday, and have an cosy movie night at home. I guess it depends :)

I agree, I love them both!! But, going to the movie theater is so expensive now that I save it for the movies I really want to see on the big screen.

I prefer home to theatre. It gives all the comfort u can ask for. Can be paused or stopped and continued at our convenience and also as long as you have a decent sized screen at home, there's no reason one should want to go out too often, considering the good quality dvd prints that come out these days. Theatre has become no more than a mere social activity.

That is the great part about watching them at home. You can stop them for whatever reason whenever you want.

Hi, i would prefer watching the movie at home, as i have a family to take care of, and would like to be with all of them . But there are exceptions. Incase the movie revews are good and the movie is worth only seeing in the theatre, i will go and see it there, with my family. The older times were different when it was treat to go to the cinema, but now a days with the congested and expensive scenario, home theatres are best.

I hadn't even thought about the crowds. But, you are right, it's better at home. No rude people to have to put up with.

I enjoy both venues really. Though if I had a choice, then it would be the cinema theatre. The main reason is that the movie seems far more impactful when it is shown on the big screen. It's when the action and sounds and the drama seems to almost come alive before one's very eyes. It's really quite an amazing experience.
But if one had lots of cash, I guess they could possibly create an almost similar experience at home with all the home theatre systems. Unfortunately though, I don't have such a big budget.

I love to go to the theater, too. If I could afford it, I would go every weekend. But, it's just too much.

I love to watch movies at home in my home theater system. i love the comfort and the freedom at home. Moreover my child is small so I cannot even think of going to a theater to watch movies. Watching from home is a lot comfortable. Last but not the least, ultimately it depends on the budget, situation etc.
