How do you come up with article ideas?

I've been writing for AC for a while now, and I've discovered that more and more frequently, I run out of good ideas for new articles. It feels like I've already written about everything I know (or at least everything I know that might be interesting to other people), or that others have already taken my article ideas. It's days like these that I really prefer writing on Helium or MyLot, because other people are coming up with the ideas for me! :)
Where do you come up with your good article ideas for AC? Do you sit and brainstorm a bunch of ideas, or do you use what you see or hear around you to get your article ideas? Or some other way?

I've just started writing for constant content, as associated content doesn't pay members from here in australia ;)
At first I felt completely overwhelmed, because I took a look at the site and saw how many topics had been covered, and how well and I thought- what the heck am I gonna write about? lol
So far I've written seven articles for them, five have been accepted and two rejected. I tend to write about things that have impacted in my life in some way, and that I have an interest in. For me that is psychological/ mental health issues and disorders, health issues in general, and parenting/ baby articles.
An idea I came up with was to go through my interests here in myLot and write an article for each one. For example, under music I like/ listen to is ... Elvis Presley, so an informative article about why he was the "King" or a short biography, or an article exploring some of his best hits. Inspiration for an article can come from anywhere.
I also look at what's in the newspapers and magazines, and think about my perspectives on articles they have written. Same goes for the tv.
I do a lot of research before writing my articles. Not only do I make sure I have statistics (particularly for psych related articles) and have information that is accepted globally, but I also make sure I check out constant content for any similar articles. That way I ensure I am writing something different to whats already on offer there.
Good luck :)

When your articles are rejected by AC, try submitting them again under a different category or making some minor changes and re-submitting them. They're often accepted on the second try.

I go back and forth. Sometimes I'm just hit with a good idea, and sometimes I sit and make a list of potential topics. The potential topics don't always work out though. Since I love cooking and food I think most of my articles are related to food.

I get ideas from here and from Helium, as well as from questions people ask. Sometimes the morning news will inspire something, but I have to make myself pay attention to what interests me and whether there's the possibility of an article in it.

Hey there i write for AC too. I know exactly what your talking about. For awhile there i was writing about everything and the call for contents were good but now for about the last two months i'm just at a stand still not knowing what is left to write about.

I have the same problem you're having, so I don't write for AC much anymore. It's just too hard for me to think of something good to write about that hasn't already been written about a lot. I've been thinking about doing some reviews on there, but I don't know. I just don't really feel like writing any of my own articles right now I guess. I really should, though. The extra money would be nice for Christmas presents. Maybe tonight I will try to think of something to write about.
