Okay I have nothing good in this house to snack on. So that means I have to make a cake.LOL I have a chocolate cake mix and cream cheese frosting in the cabinets so I will make it!LOL Does that sound good to you? It does to me! Is your house stocked up with food? Or do you have to do a grocery run? First I must tear myself away from this computer.LOL

Chocolate cake with cream cheese frosting sounds wonderful! I wish I could eat cake. I'm allergic to wheat and many other grains, so I never eat cake. Chocolate cake used to be my all time favorite! I just had to respond because it made my mouth water to think about it :) Happy eating!

yes most often my house is over stuffed with food and some times its really difficult to finish them and we have to throw away them as they get spoiled:(.but i dont like it,for me it's better to buy things on daily basis or every 3 day or something like that i like to eat foods when they are fresh.

Well a couple of weeks ago I did a huge shop run-- 300.00 worth. But according to my husband there is nothing in the house to eat...LOL. I do need to do another shopping run though- not quite as big but I think I can hold off till next week. Your chocolate cake sounds wonderful- I am PMSing so all chocolate sounds good to me!!!!

That sounds delicious. We have to go shopping tomorrow or Thursday, but we have enough to make a chocolate cake. I do not have cream cheese frosting though. But I won't make a cake today. There are just two of us now, and I am watching my weight, but I will sit here thinking of you eating all that delicious cake and I'll just drool.

Sounds delicious but what is in it? I don't use cake mixes anymore because of all the chemicals that are in it. Frosting from a can is also out of the question. Too much sugar, is really bad for me. You are lucky. My friends always make fun of me since my fridg and pantry is usually empty except for celery sticks, cucumbers and maybe a forlorn lonely beet or some carrots. I go shopping many times a week to buy what I need for a couple of meals. As far as staples are concerned I keep flour, sugar, oil and butter and some eggs handy in case I get a real snack attack and have to bake something. Otherwise it is fruits from local markets for dessert.

Yes those recalls worry me too. So many chemicals in our food. You say you live far out in the woods. If there is a sunny spot around your house you could grow some veggies like tomatoes and cukes in containers. A friend who has a very big balcony gave me a whole bag full of tomatoes (cherry tomatoes) and fresh cucumbers that she grows in containers. There is nothing so delicious than freshly picked produce.
There is a smallish wood near where I live and I have been picking black berries lately. I made some syrup for ice cream and pancakes and also some jelly since the berries are small and have so many seeds. It means I have to squeeze the juice through some cheese cloth so the seeds can be eliminated. But you should see the colour, it is a rich ruby red and the taste is wonderful.
Also earlier I discovered two Saskatoon Berry Trees (also called service berry) Usually they only gwow out west, but here they were chock full of luscious berries. They also had seeds so I made jelly.
Now I am eying a stand of wild apple trees. A lot of times the apples are wormy but I always find some good ones or cut out the wormy portion. I make apple butter, apple jelly, aplle pies.
Later on the wild grapes come in. This year the vines are packed with unripe grapes. As soon as they turn blue I collect a basket full. I boil up the berries with water and strain them. I add some sugar to the juice and freeze it. Then in the winter I either make jelly or I mix the juice with club soda or ginger ale as a drink.
LOL my ancestors must have been hunters and gatherers.

Oh goodness, I would love to have fresh fruits and veggies, but I live so far out in the woods that it is not possible. I don't farm so I can't grow my own, I depend on staples that I can stock up on. I do worry about all the chemicals in our foods though, seems we just can't stay away from it. Recalls lately on everything.

YUM YUM my sons favorite cake. I made some chocolate fudge brownies the other day using a ready made mixture too. We are actually on our way out to the office next door to buy some munchies, I feel like doritos right about now. Happy baking!

I'm pretty much set here with food--I try to buy most of my stuff once a week...the only thing I might have to dash out for though is more food for my poor deprived kitties..LOL--and the litter of course...tomorrow I plan to do a "shopping" thing...
Oh, and I'll take a slice of cake please....LOL

It sure does sound good. I love chocolate cake. Would go down well with a good coffee, too. Sounds like i need to go have a coffee and something. But it wont be cake, i havent got any, it will be a plain boring biscuit. I need to go shopping this week and do a big shop. I still have stuff in the cupboards, but needs a good top up.
Best wishes to you, Terry, and hope you enjoy that cake.
