We buried our little one-eyed cat today. The injuries she got from the attacking dogs were just too much. We only had her a year, but she was such a loving pet and brave, too. She just didn't realize she had only one eye. She could outjump and out hunt her "brother". (We adopted them at the same time from the Humane Society and were told they weren't litter mates, but they sure looked like they could be!) He has looked for her all day. We showed her body to him before we buried her and he licked her. It is just too sad!

Oh my susieq...words cannot express how sorry I am and I feel so bad--really I just don't know what to say...Was she the one who would jump up and keep your hubby company?? I feel bad for your other kitty...he must really miss her....Even though my two babies don't get along that great if something happened to the other I'm sure they would feel the loss...Maybe when you're up to it, the only thing I can think of is maybe get another little kitty...not just for you but for the other cat's company as well...Really I feel so bad now...

Thanks for your sympathy. Don't think we will get another one. At least not right now.

How are your other kitties doing? Do they still miss their friend?

I'm so sorry Susie. Losing a pet is like cutting off a peice of your soul. They are so innocent.
I hope that those dogs have been either punished or put to sleep. They obviously shouldn't have been running around loose.

That is truly a sad story.. I have cats and my heart does feel for you.. This discussion in 5 months old and leads to a question for you...Have you replaced your one eyed cat with another?

No. We still have two cats so elected not to replace her, thinking that those two might not be so accepting. Thanks for your reply--at any time!

I'm so sorry to hear about this. I've never had a cat mauled, and I think it would be a horrifying experience for me, since my pets are like my children.

They are like our children, aren't they? It was hard to see her hurt so badly.

Dolphins sound great. I've read they can even learn to talk!

Awww SusieQ, I feel for you, it's such a sad happening, and for the poor kitty that got in such a fight with these dogs, and for her brother, and for you of course. It's such a pity, and I hope the dogs will be found and taken care for, and that their owners are to be found. Such things shouldn't be happening, right? :(

This really is sad! It's enough to get me all depressed. If you feel you've given her a loving home all this while then you should feel it's enough. If you are a believer of destiny/fate, this should make things a lot easier for you: she was meant to leave this way. I hope you feel better soon and thanks for sharing your story.

I think we gave her an extra year of being loved she might not have had otherwise. Thanks for your reply.

Be sure that Bast has your kitty under her care tonight with all the wonderful kitties that have gone before like my Pumpkin who was my kitty when I was younger. Its hard to lose one of your fur babies. May the Goddess comfort you and your family and your other kitties who will miss her too. And hopefully someone will do something about those dogs. They shouldn't be allowed to run around mauling other people's pets! I am at times very glad I keep my babies inside. Blessed Be

Oh I feel for you having to bury your little cat, I will never forget the day I had to bury my little cat, it breaks my heart to even think about it. I will think of you today and his little brother, we ended up having to get another cat for our other cat as she got terribly lonely without her sister! RIP little one eyed cat

How incredibly sad! I'm so sorry! My full-time inside cat got out last week and was gone all day. I was frantic. But, luckily she came back in good shape when it started raining. I'm sorry you lost your kitty.
