When you have a shower, do you turn on the hot water first or the cold water first, or both together ??? I always turn on the hot first because there nothing worse than standing hopping onto cold water...I dont usually have cold water but if I do I just turn it on slighly.

Well, Calais, I thought you knew the answer to that! Usually a cold shower after answering your discussions, cos you seem to always lead it in the same direction!!! LOL!

I have a single regulator tap on the shower, so i don't have to turn on any of them independently. I usually use hot water in the winter when it's colder, but now in the summer it's fresher....not cold cold but not as hot.

I always turn the hot on first and wait till it feels hot before I add any cold to it. I stand to one side so as I turn the taps on the water doesnt splash me until it is warmer(hotter!) I have really hot showers, I dont have much cold added. If my son is going to hop in after me I make sure I add more cold, so I dont scold him. (also if son not around and hubby joins me I add more cold, dont want to burn him either!)

Hello Calais! I have a single lever type regulator for water in shower. In summer like these days (in northern hemisphere:-)), hot water is a big 'no' for me. I already start feeling burning on my skin just by thinking of hot water. In mild cold, I like to keep it in between, just at room temperature. In very cold weather, however, like in January and February, I slightly turn my lever to hot first, wait a minute to get the water temperature stabilized at slightly hotter than body temperature and then turn it slightly to the right so that it doesn't get too hot for me to cause my skin a feeling of burning. Females usually like hot water more perhaps because their normal body temperature is slightly higher and cold water make them feel colder than men, because of potential difference of temperature, so perhaps this is the reason but I am not sure what are the real statistics. I must clear here, that female body temperature being higher than men and actually feeling hotter inside are two different things and phenomena.

I thought that the females body core temperature was actually higher only when they are pregnant... But I love hot showers and only a dribble of cold water..

Its hot for me. And i like a really hot shower. When its time to get out, i slowly turn the cold off, bit by bit and see how hot i can stand it. Sometimes though i turn the hot off first and have the cold water hit me. This wakes you up heaps and real fast. I like being mean sometimes to ones in the shower and turn the kitchen hot tap on. They get a sudden cold shower.hehehe. I know, thats quite naughty of me, but it is fun. Best wishes to you, calais

well, we dont have an option in our house, we just take the water from the shower straight, theres no regulator. anyway, weather here in our country is hot. if its too cold in the morning to take shower, we have a heater, so we heat the water in the pail. kids in our house often heat the water first and combine it with the tap water. but of course, when im in hotel, i turn the hot water first and if it becomes to hot, i mix it with the cold one.

Hi Calais, I like to take warm water shower only during cold weather. Before taking bath I usually turn on the hot water first so as to make the bathroom warm. After a while I then go in the bathroom and turn on the cold water to make the water lukewarm.

I am like you, I would prefer opening hot water tap or shower first...or both the taps of cold & hot water simultaneously. I also do not prefer...cold water straightway falling on my body. Nice Post!

our shower has a single control knob so I guess my answer is that I turn on both at the same time, but I put it to the hot side and then adjust down to the cold if need be.

I usually just turn on the hot water. If it is too hot, then I will turn on the cold water. I like hot temperature than cold one. I just can't stand it.

it depends on the weather. if its summer, i'd go only for the cold water. if its a cold weather, i'd turn on the cold first then the hot and wait until its warm before going under it. ^__^

Well, we dont have hot and cold shower here, most of the time, you just find it in hotels and rich houses. But for normal people we just take a bath straight from the shower. The water is cold. If we prefer hot bath then you can boil water and add it up to water on th pail. Thats it! Me, I prefer warm bath rather than cold. I enjoy it more. I have poor tolerance to cold.

Uhm, doesn't matter for me. I can resist very cold water and very hot water. Moderate hot water is relaxing but very cold water is better than very hot water. Nice discussion.
