Just a moment of peace

I’ve said this at least a thousand times in my life, but I swear that if I ever strike it rich I am getting a house with a secret bunker in it. It will have a hidden door at the back of my closet, but rather than having that door lead to Narnia, it will lead to my own private bathroom.
And in that bathroom, when I place my bottom on the toilet seat, I will not have cats rubbing my legs, my toddler standing on a stool at the sink and screeching “teef! TEEF!” (”I would like to brush my teeth, Mother”), my pre-schooler asking me questions from down the hall and repeating herself until I shout back an answer. I will not have to draw on a Magna Doodle, or flip pages in a Barney book, or sing the Backpack song from Dora while I wipe myself.
No, I will sit in my hidden bunker bathroom and there will be peace and quiet and privacy and no one will ever know where I am.
Does anyone else feel this way at times?

I am so glad I am not alone in this. I laughed so hard because for a second there you were describing my turn in the bathroom. My 1 year od thinks I can ony go to the bathroom if he stands next to me holding my hand. If ever you figure out how to get away with that secret bunker, please share the wealth.

LOL--- Nope- My daughter is 10 though- so we are past that- so it does
get better-- there are days when I have to say- Pooh- I need privacy!
I mean heck she freaks when I even open the door to the bathroom and
she is in the shower- LOL... I want to be rich too-- and have alot of
extra rooms to get away from the moodiness and grumpiness that she
does at times!

Trust me dear, it does get better.Soon will be school and later they will be on their own. Now the cat is another thing, Ha! My kids are all grown now. When they were in school as soon as I would get home from work they would run to the car saying "Mom, I need, I want, I gotta have..." Of course now I have a dog who follows me everywhere! Sigh. Kids do grow up eventually!

OMG! I know what you mean! I have had to do so many things like that. I have had kids running in and out of the bathroom while I am trying to have privacy to do the number two, heck even the number one is a task with kids running in and out. My husbands kids from his previous marriage come to visit and even if I am in the shower, they come in and want to talk. I love it, but sometimes it can be a little over the top! I have to sing them songs, I have even had to read them a book while on the toilet. I tried locking the door and they would just sit outside the door and talk to me while I was in the bathroom. My duaghter when she was smaller did much the same thing. hahahha!

I can't believe I've just read this :) I use to have this recurring dream almost every night it was so beautiful. I lived in a house where there was a secret door in the kitchen that only I knew about. After I would put the kids to bed I would go through the secret door and it was a whole new house so clean and beautiful. There was a sunroom with huge windows going all around with the most beautiful view I could only imagine. Which I did...lol. It's nice to see I am not the only one. Finally.

I know what you mean. Just to be alone for long enough to put a few thoughts together in a row would be nice.

I must have been a lot meaner than you, because no one ever dared to bother me while I was in the bathroom. Another thing that helped me was that my bathroom was only accessible through my bedroom. I would lock my bedroom door and then my bathroom door. The kids had their own bathroom too. I could never have survived with only one bathroom. Today, though, my daughter stopped over to visit, and she brought one of her dogs. I thought I had my bedroom door closed, but he managed to push the door open and pay me a visit while I was trying to get out of the shower. He jumped up on my bed, right on top of my clean clothes I had laid out. He's such a cutie, I don't mind too much when he visits here, but it would drive me crazy if he was here every day.

It sounds like its time for the kids to go back to school LOL. Yes I felt like you did. I did love my kids and all their friends over, but I needed my quiet times which was far and few inbetween.
I worked overtime just so I did not have to deal with my family at times. I know it was a cop out but sometimes I needed adults and did not want to come home to a husband, two kids, a mother and pets all who needed me and needed me NOW!
I now spend most of my day alone, I can keep it quiet or I can watch TV when I want. Now that I have the quiet I would love to have my children or their friends come and vist everyonce in a while.
I also would love to be a grandmother.

Oh yeah. Peace and quiet is important to me. When our children are little peace and quiet is very limited.
I used to wish for soundproof glass in the car. Like they have in taxi's and limo's, so I wouldn't have to hear my kids arguing while I drive.

Very hilarious. And yes, it is a dream of mine. Well, not the hidden bunker, but to just be able to sit on the toilet in peace. If I don't let my dog in, she sticks her nose by the bottom of the door and breathes in and out heavily.
My daughter loves to go in with me so she can say "ewwww, mama, ewwwww!"
Yes, my 4 and 8 year old still will ask me questions through the door. The 4 year old will come in, unless I lock the door.
If my husband is home, it seems that when I go to my bathroom, I use the one in the master bath, everyone migrates into the bedroom. When I come out I have an audience of my husband, my 3 children and our 3 dogs.
Peace and quiet would be nice!!

My sister, whose kids at 6 and 9 and who has a dog and cat, says the same thing to me every single day.
I felt EXACTLY the way you do now when my kids were young. Now, they are 21 and 16 and I sorta miss those days. I am alone a lot and I literally long for the confusion and the craziness of 10 years ago. But given the choice, I'll take what I have now. lol.
This, too, shall pass and you will find some time for yourself. I wish all moms would TRY to make time somehow to be alone because it is so hard to stress day in and day out without a break. I was so stressed when my kids were little that I thought I would just run away on a bus to anywhere sometimes. But, time flies and soon, you'll be where I am. Your kids won't need you, even my DOG doesn't need me. I have all the solitude in the world.
And now...I'm lonely!

Are you kidding me??? I almost had a lock put on my closet, lol. I didn't run or hide from anyone until my son started walking. Now he runs over every time I want to eat or use the bathroom, wanting to know what I'm doing and can he do it too. I love my baby, but I need a break! And I'm a single working mom, so I can't pawn him off on his dad, lol.
