From whence came evil?

I was wondering about your philosophies on the source/identity of evil. Although the popular belief is that our evil stem from the most potent external source (Satan), I began to wonder about that, especially when reading up on philosophieswhere the characters gradually realise the evil they had attributed to the outside was merely what came from the inside. I've even wondered, once or twice, if Satan might simply be a metaphor for this internal evil we all possess. I really don't know where I stand on this, and I'd like to know if any one of you take a stand.

How do you distinguish right from good and bad from evil? They are all used to describe the same human actions and characters. They're all words to describe both side of the morality scale; good/evil, ethical/unethical, justice/injustice, moral/immoral, etc.

I wanted to see how others had replied to this question, but I could not find it on your page. If you are serious about this question and you have not yet got the answer, then it will shock you, so hold on to your seat. The creator of evil is God.

I don't want to leave you hanging with no scripture to back up what I said, but I am having a time remembering where my concordance is.
A lot of people assume that the devil created evil, but that is not so. First of all, the devil has no power to create. He can only use what God has created. Secondly, we know that God created the devil. Not only that, the book of Genesis says that Gods created all things and without him that was nothing that was made.

I guess the only way I would think off would be within. I think we all have evil intentions or evil itself somewhere and I think that is where it came from.

In an ancient chinese teaching it is believed that men are born to be pure and kind hearted. It is the environment that influences them later on.
I do believe that evil behaviors are learnt habits. Strong moral discipline and religious believing could make men refrain from evils and crimes too. Education could bring up good personality and morality.
Strong greed and desire to pursue wealth, power and status always turn man to be evil consequently.

I really have only one answer followed by a question in my philosophy regarding evil and that is, even people who do evil find it good. So does that mean that good can encompass everything including evil.
My Zen training tells me that all is one. How can opposites possible exist? OK, that's two questions - LOL. I have other stuff on my blog for anyone who wants to read it and maybe get embroiled in it.. ;-) http://piecesofzen.blogspot.com
