When I was younger (14, 15 ,16..) I used to steal alot..
clothes, cd's, make up....everything..
I got caught a couple times and really made my mom mad.
when I was 17 I stopped because I knew at that age they werent just gonna call my mom anymore, they'd take me to jail.. so that was the end of that..

I have always wondered why shoplifters have stopped...so you knew deep inside that it was wrong then?

I did once and that was enough for me. I felt so bad about it that it gsve me nightmares. I was 15 when I shoplifted a pair of panties. one pair. It was due to peer pressure if I hadn't done it I would have been the only one in the group of girls that hadn't shoplifted something. So against all my values and judgements I did. At the time I thought hell was going to open up and swallow me whole. I never told anyone but the group because I had to show them I did it. But after that I left the group because I knew I wasn't cut out for a life of crime. If my parents ever found out I did that they would have marched me right back and made me give it back and also ground me for life and then I would never be left alone in a store again. And plus my face would be plastered all over the store as a shoplifter. Later I found out that the group continued to steal and got busted and banned from several stores because of it and got in big trouble so I was lucky to have gotten out early .

I am to I just didn't like the feeling I got after doing it that one time felt like someone was pointing a finger at me saying she did it, she took it, Now my step-dads niece she got banned from several stores. Kmart one of them because she was caught stealing there several times. Some people just get a rush when they get away with it they don't feel quilty they just think about when the next time they can do it and wonder what they will take next. I think right now the only way I would even consider thinking about stealing again ,was if my family was starving and I couldn't get any assistance or help of any kind. No it doesn't make it right But I would probably try to sell off or pawn things first but if I did have to it would only be food. and only if I couldn't beg,bum or borrow first.

That's why I asked this question...I know that many people get the whole peer pressure thing. I had a cousin that shoplifted really bad all the time. She said that once there was a poweroutage at the store she was at and she grabbed what she could. I didn't know how she could do that. I'm glad you got out when you could.

As much as I ever wanted to I could never make myself do it. I have this inner voice that keeps me out of trouble all the times.
