Would you rather live fast and die young or live boring and die old?

Dangerous stunt by Paul Stanley of Kiss - Paul Stanley lived fast and didn't die young. Hmmm...

Maybe people I know say they want to live fast, do crazy things, get it all in and die young before they have a chance to get old. Others say they want to live as long as possible and are not taking any chances by acting crazy. I want to live long. I am not super adventurous anymore and I don't get a thrill from nearly dying like some people do who try stunts or participate in dangerous activities. But I'm bored. There are times when I want to do something crazy but then I realize it's pretty dangerous and I wouldn't want something stupid to happen and end up dead over it. What about you? Live fast or live long?

Well I would have to say perhaps a combination of both. I am not the kind of person that ever sky dived or jumped off cliffs with a parachute but when young I worked at two of what is considered very dangerous occupations. While in the Navy I worked in the flight deck of a carrier for about a year. When I think back there were several times that had it gone differently I would not be here now. After leaving the Navy I worked for about 4 years as a firefighter. Now this occupation has its moments. Again it's good I was young. As you get older however all these things seem to not have been the best ideas you could ever have. So you find out that while boring isn't fun is not too bad. Of course I was married to the same woman for 37 years so my life wasn't too boring. LOL Bored? No I think not but life itself will keep you interested. I didn’t die young and all in all I would have to say that is just the way I would have planed it.

And a better goal no one could have. I have two children, both married, with several grandchildren. For me to have missed out on all that because of some foolish stunt I pulled when young could not have demonstrated my stupidity any better. Like Forest momma always said "stupid is as stupid does".

Thanks for the interesting reply. I have been married for 23 years and hope to be around for lots more! I do think that the younger people don't view dangerous activities as life threatening because everything is different when you are young. As we age, we start to realize our own mortality and want to stay around as long as possible. At least I do. I will forgo the really dangerous stuff for the possibility of seeing my kids gets married and have kids of their own.

I don't think doing crazy stuffs means putting your foot into grave. But actually I don't like to live long, I'd rather die young andyeah live a crazy life than to live long and do nothing which I think is meaningless.

Today is my birthday so this is a good question to reply to.I prefer to live long.I don't worry about boredom. There are people who live fast and they still feel bored. Boredom dipends on character not on living fast or long,at least for me.

I feel the same way. I sometimes want to get crazy and try something dangerous but I want to be here for as long as possible for my family. Seeing and being with my family is so much more important than trying to get a quick thrill. Thanks for the reply.

Hi woftpatty! :) I think there are also other ways of doing "crazy stuffs", not necessarily to eat fire and the like. hehe... You can try mountain climbing, hiking or the likes. Just not those that will risk your life. Hmm... are there any choice? Can I have the combination of both? That is, to live fast and die old? *wink-wink* I am 21 and I know that I still have lots to discover about life. At this point, I am even confused of what I want to do with my life. ALWAYS, I am seeking of the place where I really belong. I want to know what's my purpose. Take care, patty and GOd bless! \(",)_

i am not the adventurous type either and i also want to live long. i love life and the people in my life. i may get bored occasionally, and may feel downright depressed but these people that i love actually give me great reason to embrace life and to want to live a long, healthy life.
