Do you think it is wierd to give men flowers as gifts? Why or why not? What types of gifts do you give men? (not men who are a part of your family)

Hi, well society as such doesnt accpet this much, that men are given flowers, though i find no harm in it, after all they are very much humans with as much emotions as women and i am sure they also like flowers, so why should we not give them flowers too? I wonder why or when this trend really started. I dont find it weird at all, but men are supposed to be given manly kind of things and flowers are considered feminine i think, so thats why maybe this is called- weird by some.

Well I don't really know many guys that like cut flowers, but I do know a few that like flowers for their garden. So live plants I think would be great. However I just give most guys gift cards to stores I know they like, that way they can get what they want.

I dont think it is odd to give a man flowers at all. My mom has given my step-father flowers as a way to show her love for him. My husband loves flowers and wants to start a garden soon. so if given the chance I would buy him flowers.

Its not weird or odd to men flowers. Any thing can be considered a gift for men as long as it comes from the heart. I usually give my guy food, perfume, cards, accessories he need at work and computer.

Flowers are not really a guys type of thing, so they will not appreciate it as much as a girl would, unless they worked in a nursery or had a large garden, but then you would have to get the perfect flower or they would critizise it.

I don't think it's particularly weird to give men flowers for a gift, just I don't think they'd appreciate the gesture as much as women do. I have given men (non-family members) gifts of flowering bushes, bulbs and plants for outside at their house, but never cut flowers/bouquets. In another adults forum I belong to (dating site) this question was posed...out of all the men who responded, I think only one of them said men like flowers too and wouldn't find it strange. I think the general concensus was that men seem to see that as a gift men give to women and not vice versa. For other types of gifts, I often give car products (cleaners, windshield stuff, lock de-icer) and put it in a basket they can use for magazines or a wastepaper basket (or something like that.) I've also given first aid kits to keep in the house or the car, gag gifts, home-mixed cds (with their favorite music on it), and gifts-in-a-jar presents. (Gift-in-a-jar items are handy for those who know minimal about cooking, and they can just stick the mix in a baking pan, etc, or add meat, whatever...and then they just cook it up without fuss or muss.) Men ARE harder to find something for than women, for sure!

I sure felt like it was weird the first time I gave my old boyfriend flowers. But, I didn't see why not at all. I think it is an ok gift in my opinion for men too.

I don't think it's weird. My husband wouldn't appreciate it, so, I would never do it, but, I'm sure there are some men who would like it. Maybe they're avid gardeners or something, and would like it. I don't think the average guy would like them as much as the average woman.

That's an excellent question, "What do you give a man for a gift?" Yes I would say flowers are appropriate. Men like flowers too. The thing that stands out in my mind is, I think flowers is really no diffwerent from anything else in the fact that it was the thought that is most important. You were obviously thinking about this mans situation and giving him thought which in itself is the best gift for anyone. Have a Great Day crazynurse. I'm always happy to hear from you.

I personally would not give a guy flowers. He would be looking at me like what the heck are these. Well my husband would anyways. I guess that if a guy likes them then go for it but i wouldn't give them to a guy. I ususally give my husband cologne, clothes, new wallet, or stuff like that. I personally think that my husband is hard to buy gifts for.

I have never given a man flowers but I do give plants to them. I have given plants to a man for moving into their first place and for starting a new job. I have also sent a plant for an expression of sympathy for the loss of a loved one.
