Who is your ISP and do you have highspeed internet?

I supposed I could have split this into two seperate discussions, but I'm short on time and a little impatient. Who is your internet service provider? Are you happy with them? How many times have you changed providers since beginning to use the internet? Right now I have AOL, I started with Compuserve. I still pay for the Compuserve service because I occassionaly receive e-mails to the old address. I will soon cancel the service. Do you have highspeed internet? What type of highspeed do you have? If you don't have highspeed yet...why not? I am still on Dial up. I keeping thinking I need to make the switch, but I haven't wanted to spend the extra money and I hate change. I don't want to deal with making the switch.

We have Wide Open West (WOW) and we're pretty happy with it. Have had it for about five years now and recently we had our phone bundled in with the cable and internet as it was cheaper than paying 2 different companies. So far so good. Since we have started using the internet we have changed a few times but mostly because we moved to a different state. I think when we moved here we started out with Earthlink but then went to Comcast for cable internet but then switched to WOW when we moved into our current house. I love cable internet. It's super fast!

Ihave DSL through AT&T. They have 3 different speeds depending on how and what you want to do with your computer. I have the fastest speed because I am hoping to start working from home and will need the speed. There are deals around here depending on if you want high speed from a phone line or cable. Our cable company has high speed too, but when I read the fine print it is a little slower than our phone. I have not really had any serious problems. To get the DSL all I had to do was call the phone company. It was pretty easy and when I had a couple of problems they were able to fix it easy.

I use Comcast cable internet. So far it seems to do very well. At least I never get disconnected like I did with dial-up and it runs alot faster.I understand before I switched I was use to dial up under Microsoft Network.

At the moment cox communications is our internet service provider. We have subscribed to their package that has cable, internet and phone service. At the moment it works for us and we have not had any problems with it so far. The technicians have helped us with two problems and when our cable box stopped working, then sent someone out within the next two hours of our call and replaced free of charge. We had a discounted package for 6 months where we were only paying $6 for internet access, now it has gone back to $25 or something like that. We usually pay around $99 a month for all three services + extra if we make long distance calls or order movies online to watch.

I have had high speed or broad band for five years, my original carrier was verizon I had the standard telephone modem. I had a lot of service disruptions with them so a year ago I changed to cable modem and I have Roadrunner service through my cable company. There have been no problems at all with that. I definately like the cable service better than the phone service seems faster and more reliable to me.

My parents used AOL for over 10 years, before finally switching to high speed in 2005. We never had any problems with it, and it ran faster for us than some of the other companies did that my friends used. My husband and I have cable internet. We pay about $70 each month for cable, and our internet. We had DSL through our phone company before, but it went out more often than our cable does. Plus we decided to get rid of our land line and go with Vonage, since we make so many long distance phone calls to stay in touch with our family and friends. It really saves us money doing it this way instead. I use the internet so much now, that I have to have high speed. I wouldn't ever get everything done that I needed to, if I was on dial up.

I am on TPG, an Australian company and am connected on ADSL2+ which is capable if conditions are right (such as equipment, phone line quality, modem, and distance from exchange) of 24mb downloads and 1mb upload. That is of course megabits, and not megabytes. For those non-computer people, you have to divide by 8 in order to work out a figure for megabtyes (of which the notation is uppercase MB rather than the mb).

I am with earthlink. I pay less they $10 a month. They don't have high speed, wish they did though. I live in the sticks and it isn't available here. I am happy with the company except for the high speed thing. My dial up is slow.

My internet provider is our BSNL our National telephone services and I use DSL - broadband so I get up to 1mb/sec speed at night when there are fewer people on the net.

We use Earthlink DSL at 3 mbps with the ability to upgrade to 5 mbps at any time. We are very satisfied with the service and it is quite dependable with only an occasional modem reset needed, which takes all of five minutes to do. In the time we have had internet we have used dial-up with several different companies, cable DSL and Earthlink on 3 different occasions including the present. We have found that the phoneline DSL is much more reliable than cable due to the fact that the phone lines are not affected by the weather while cable is. Once you do make the switch to DSL, you will never want to go back to dialup...there is just no comparison between the two. We moved to an area that only offered dialup and hated it, and were very glad to get back on DSL.

Wow, I thought I was the only one left still using dial-up. I have actually upgraded my internet very recently, just last Monday. The dial-up internet I had was just free, it came along with my landline. But I have just got tired of this old, slow, non reliable dial up.I would always get cut off from the line and it takes so slow. Anyway, fortunately, Globelines which is my ISP (I live in the Philippines) just recently launched a promotion, a broadband which costs around 22$ with the speed of 500+ kbps which still not that highspeed, but it goes with my landline which I don't have to pay for anymore. So it saves me alot more money and it's pretty cheap.

Our internet provider is Embarq (used to be Sprint) and yes, I'm happy with them. We tried cable internet when we moved in here but it was always going out and so slow. We were finally able to get DSL through our phone company and it is so stable and quick. We've had to live through Dial Up more than once and it is a nightmare. AT PEACE WITHIN

I am with Cable (Virgin) ISP and I find it really excellent. It is entirely separate to my phone line and although at the moment I am on just on the lowest 2GB, it is plenty fast enough for me. I have no intentions of switching.. :-)

You got it right, making the switch to a hi-speed connection means upgrading and upgrading means money. Maybe your PC has been used to that kind of bandwidth you are currently with. As long as your satisfied with your PC and connection performance, i think upgrade is not necessary. LOL, maybe if you can hands on with my PC and experienced its amazing browsing speed, i think you'll change your mind and make switches ASAP.
