Do you sabotage yourself because you are afraid of failure?
Do you find yourself sitting back when you should be stepping forward?
Are you so scared of failing that you find excuses not to do anything in the first place?
What is better to try something and not succeed or to never try at all?
If you quit before you start isn't that the same as failing?
At least if you try something and fail you may learn something and be able to accomplish on the next try.
I just feel that some of the things I could have done and didn't was a loss for me.
Don't sit back...
Take a chance!
Think of the worst thing that will happen....
now what is the best thing that can happen....
Isn't it worth a chance?
Have a great day everyone.

Yes I am afraid of failing but I do give it a chance
I am just afraid to totally let go of Feelings that is where I do not take a chance anymore I have been hurt to much so now I hold back in a sense I don't want to but I am to scared to fail again
I have always been scared to fail my Kids and I still worry about that even though they are grown up but again I take chances and hope I never fail them
I have failed in my Marriage I could not keep it together even though I tried for 21 Years I failed in my fight to keep my Job when I got bullied out of it because of my Disability
I failed in well basically a lot of things
I now have a wonderful that really cares for me, is there when I need him, is gentle with me and not abusive, loves me but I am scared of failing again and loosing it all as I have never been treated with so much love and care before
Love you Sweet Raydene xxxx

You have me pegged. Right now I am looking for work at home call center or virtual assistant jobs like the ones seen on Good Morning America. I research the jobs but when it comes to applying and having to take the tests I freeze and am afraid I will fail. You have reminded me that I need to just go ahead and do it. Some body start pushing me...

I have many times sit back and didn't do the things that I was supposed to do. I am always afraid of the unknown. That is my biggest fear of all. And that is the thing that prevents me from doing so many things. I am grateful that I have come into your discussion. I come to realize that I shouldn't sit back, but to take charge and do whatever I want because I will never know the outcome. It is better to do something but fail, at least we know how far is our capability. If we don't try at all we will never know what is the outcome. Thanks for starting this discussion. It is indeed very helpful.

Never, if I fail then it will have been a learning experience and I know that if I try it again it will be a sucess.

"You never know until you try" is something I have been telling myself before I embark on anything. However, I just cannot help sitting back when I should be moving forward. Perhaps it is because of my birth constellations. Someone ever tell me that I am basically a layback person, so being layback is not of my choice. lol.

how apt!
and painfully truthful.
when i looked back to what have happened to me
i sometimes wished that i have the courage then to try.
JUST TRY. cos i did not even try
cos i am so scared of failing.
and then to regret when others tried and suceeded.
life is so ironic.
now i am pushing myself to try anything, everything.
even if the chance is super small, JUST TRY, i would tell myself.
even if i do not suceed, at least i could reward myself for trying right?
so take care everyone.
and bring in positivity into your life!
JUST TRY! there is maybe.

I have often been guilty of this. I guess that much of this fear comes from experiencing such failures in the past. It also comes from loss, and the hurt that these past failures have caused. I know that sometimes we need to put these fears behind us and take risks in order to move forward with our lives. It is often a difficult thing to do, but sometimes a necessary thing to do.

It is so good to read your upbeat, positive discussions these days. I'm so happy for your. Yes, I have often failed to start and/or finish something for fear of failure. Aren't we humans silly sometimes?

Everything you say is true, Raydene. I have been guilty of this many times. I guess it is a lack of self-confidence. Sometimes I do surprise myself, however, when I accomplish the thing that I thought I couldn't. The victory is so sweet. Nobody should ever give up on any pursuit that they wish to achieve. Peace!

That is me in a nutshell. If I think something will go wrong, then it will. I have talked myself out of alot of things. I think failure is one reason and I also think success is the other. I am smarter than I give myself credit for and yet I still seem to take a step back when I should be going forward. What is the worst that could happen? It can't be that bad, right?

i guess we have something in common about this one. all that you've mentioned above are often happen to me. i'm too afraid of failure and if i'm fail, i will feel that i'm the most stupid girl.i know it's wrong but i always feel that way.i often feel i don't know what to do if i want to step forward..it's so hard for me to start something new but if i know already then everything become very easy.Beginning is always be the hardest part.that's what makes me lazy to start something new.if i found some difficulties, i will give up so easily or at least i'll be lazy to continue it.

No way do I do this... I'm a stubborn little cuss, which I get from my Mother and determination is my middle name! lol.
Thank you for sharing though, Raydene. If you stand to get something you want badly, then it certainly is worth taking a chance. Get stuck in, I say! lol.
Brightest Blessings my dear friend. xxx

Hi raydene! You have a good topic which made me reflect on what I have really done in my life somehow. When I was younger I was aggressive and taking so much risks just to reach my goals and as I experienced several failures, I tamed much more than I should...I guess the fear of failure and disappointment have gone into my system. But now that I am old enough, I learned that it is better to try and fail than to have done nothing at all...at least even if you failed in your goals, as you have said you can learn so much from it and will never wonder if what would have happened. Now that I am in my early forties, I am still taking chances for I do not want to look back in my life and wonder again, "what if..." Have a nice day and take care.
