Are you best friends with the REPORT button?

I have started alot of discussion that seem to get delteted just because I state my beliefs. It seems to me some people are just to friendly with the report button ! If some people would just accept others beliefs, then maybe mylot would be a better place! So those of you who push the ! button, start accepting others opinions and quit being easily offended just because someone disagrees with you. I admit, I have pushed the ! button once. Only when the person was calling me immoral, and said they knew more than a 21 year old housewife, and called me evil because of my beliefs. I only reported them when they continued calling me rude names and wouldn't quit. I have started discussions, and have had people call me immature, and this and that, but I only reported when someone said something over and over, even after I tried to explain my beliefs. So, are you too quick with the report button ! Or, have you been reported? Tell all!

I am both, I have been reported and I have done some reporting, on spammers and cheaters. However here is somthing many forget, members can't delete posts, only mylot can. So when my posts get deleted that is who I take my grief up with since they are the ones that do it, not with the reporter. You know?

Thee are a number of Moderators on Mylot, some appear to just delete any discussions that have been reported, without checking the reason they were reported in the first place.

Oh I know that one is true. I posted a post about dirty stinking immigrants. It was deleted the same day I posted it. It was about my mouse problem...I KNOW the moderator did not read the post. It was the very reason I posted it, to prove people were not reading the posts but just the titles.

Are there really moderators? It seems to have gone to an automated system. I tested this with a coupld of friends. If I report a discussion regardless of the reason, it is deleted overnight.

I was reported for being foul mouthed during an arguement but thats all I know of..I have reported ppl though but its very rare...one guy I reported because he was stealing threads from another site I go to and using them here which just infuriates me...and the other few reports have been for downright nastiness etc...its super rare that I do it though..I've been a member here for 9 months now and I think I've reported like MAYBE 4 ppl

I have never reported anyone because I don't care enough. Nobody has ever really attacked me that bad on here.. sometimes people take what I say the wrong way and make a stink, but I just ignore it and move on. If someone was harassing me though, I guess I would report them for it. A few of my discussions have been deleted, but what can you do? I think it is a waste of time to go around finding discussions that I think should be deleted. I think everyone should have to right to post whatever they want. If others don't agree or don't like it, they can respond with their opinions and leave it at that. Getting something deleted isn't really going to change anything. Too many people are drinking the Haterade.

People need to realize that this is a discussion board, and not a tattle tell board. everyone has their own beliefs, some people are just scared of others... or that they might actually agree with it.

I only used the report button twice to report spamers. With out any reason some people post their affiliate link with their responses and which is not at all related to the topic of discussion, such habits should be discouraged and reported. I think people here should use the report button only on unavoidable circumstances. In your case you are justified in using the report button, so its fine!

I, myself, lost two discussions, probably around the same time two other members lost discussions. I wrote to MyLot Monday morning, but I have not heard back from them. It isn't so much about the reporting. It's this rogue moderator who sees a report & just deletes without taking the time to mkae a judgement. One of my friends calls 'em the Grim Deleter. All in all, there have been many guideline-compliant discussions that got deleted, & MyLot has not replied as to why, or even bothered to reply. I take that silence as: * They know they were wrong & refuse to admit it * They did it on purpose so they don't have to credit so many responses. I have reported myself, basically only if it blatantly violates the MyLot guidelines, such as flames or copy/paste from other discussions or copyrighted material. Just because someone has a different opinion from me on something is not a reason to report.

I don't think that I have ever had to use the report button. I do not like to report anyone, I believe that everyone is entitled to freedom of speech.

If someone uses the ! button then Mylot should check to see why this was used, and misuse of it was just as bad as starting a discussion that really should be reported. It seems to be up to the Moderators to ensure that reporting someone is justified but it may be that some don't really do their job properly. Stating your beliefs should not be a reason to have your discussions deleted without any other reason.

I have only used the report button for cheating. Everything else is s judgement call and I wouldn't want a discussion or post deleted because of my judgement.

I have only reported about a couple of times, and always because the comments posted were utterly racist, homophobic or simply enforced hate. I would never report because someone thought something i find ridiculous or that i disagree with. But someone who defends that men are superior to women, or women to men, or that nazism was the right thing....then it's different. Of course i think about it twice before doing it, because there is a thin line between my own prejudices and unacceptable behaviors, but i always try to do my best.

I am sorry for your discussions being reported. I have had 6 in the last 4 days. I am loosing all of my points, earnings, and patients. I don't even want to post or respond anymore because of the happy reporters. Another one was deleted today. I have used it on a couple of occasions, one being the same person you did, but because of being rude to my discussion. The other times were deliberate violations and they were reported by others too. But to report to be mean, is just childish. I think you know how I feel right now. I hope people can be kinder to you than they are to me. Peace, Totty

I haven't pushed the button yet and I would only feel it necessary to do so if a post was abusive or violated the TOS. I'mvery sorry to hear that you have experienced problems with voicing your beliefs. If I had a problem with what you were saying then I would either ignore your post or respond with my opinion in a respectful way. Whilst it is true that we are all entitled to our beliefs/opinions then there will always be those who disagree and rather than engage in civilised discussion would rather brand people due to ignorance and bias. Hence the abuse of the ! button.

I'm really not sure if I pushed report button even once. Meybe when I was a newbie here and I saw some refferals link in responses which were totally not related with the topic. If so, it could be once or twice, or even never:) I have no problem with people thinking in other way than myself. I like veriety of beleifs, it makes this world more interesting. In my opinion, people, who can't stand that other people have different believes, should broaden their minds and start thinking LOL
