My husband has been having pain in his chest, near his heart!

It is excruciating pain, he claims, and it leads up from his chest into his left arm, and into his neck. He claims also that sometimes his whole left arm will start to go a little numb! Does anyone know what this could be? I hope it doesn't mean signs of a stroke or heart attack, he is only 23 years old! Do you think it could be stress? Tell me your honest opinions please, it is crucial.

The thing is, he will NOT go! I have been calling hospitals and doctors all night, and he is just being beligerant! He is against going to any doctor, so what can I do, right? Well, I hope it is just stress causing it. But if he starts having any more symptoms, I am sure to call 911. Thank you for the response.

Rather than speculate, I would advice that your husband should see a doctor, there are several symptoms that could lead to heart attack, stroke or even a simple indigestion.

I have been posting my pains for months now. I have wet to doctor soooo many times. I have these same symptoms....one time it was chest wall pain from smoking, the next time it was pneumonia, the next time it was tmj. I got scared of havingheart problems at 23. but iam not worried. Most of it was just anxiety. he needs to be seem from a doctor. But if you worry yourself too much over this it will hurt you.....ge him to tha doc asap

Hi Jennifer21, I would definitely advice you is to visit a doctor and have a body check-up. Yes, it may be ergonomic pain that led him to this. But, for safe, visit the doctor.

Like many said, going to the Doctor is the best advice. It may well be that stress is the source of the problem, but still, you need to have a Health Check.

I also have pain in my chest. When we have a physicall exam in our office our doctor found out that I have murmur in my heart. He advice me to take a further test for my heart. As of now I have not go to a dotor to have another test. My husband will not support me saying that it is just because I will not breath properly. But I will have it tested when I can have money because I think it is expensive.

Well, Jennifer, first thing he should do is going to the doctor honey. Anyway if he's young and healthy then it could be a lot of things. It could be stress, and it could be an inflammation of the surrounding membrane of the heart, pericardium in English i think. It hurts a bit and sometimes your left arm hurts a bit too, but nothing to worry about. Anyway jennifer, take your husband to the doctor as soon as possible.

It is best that you get your husband to consult a doctor immediately. Age does not matter in this since many things can go wrong with our body no matter at what age we are. I hope it would be nothing serious but it is good to check it out just in case so that things can be taken care early. All the best to you and your husband!

He needs to go to a hospital or doctor, because pain in chest and arm means there could be something wrong with his heart.I've experienced people who had this but rescue was too late, because people thought it was a cold or something else.So please let him visit a doctor because these are symptons of problems with the heart.

better take him to the doctor and the doctor will see if there are signs of heart atack or something else.it isn't something so strange in having heart problems at this age.there are gone the times when only the old people were suffering of heart attack.it's better to prevent.hope isn't anything very serious

I've experienced sharp pain on my chest before but not to the extreme of connecting to my neck or arm. I also thought it is heart attack but after checking the websites, I'm relieved that it is not heart attack. As for your husband's case, it might be heart attack. Check out the link below and the left arm problem seems to be the symptoms of heart attack. http://familydoctor.org/online/famdocen/home/tools/symptom/523.html Hope it helps.

yes, visiting a doctor is advisable because that pain is characteristic of someone about to go into heart attack. although he is relatively young, lifestyle is a large component of degenerative diseases such as hypertension, heartattack, stroke, etc. you should modify his diet, allow him to rest when he feels pain, put him in some loose clothing, and let him get as much fresh air or oxygen as possible. no more fatty foods or smoking! and going to the doctor is most needed.

holy @#$% jennifer. put his face in front of your monitor for a minute. DUDE, GO SEE A DOCTOR!! do it for your wife and kids (?). you owe them at least that. if its nothing, then you can rub it in her face that you were right. and if they do find something, thank her for caring enough. go tomorrow. they can run tests to test your heart and stuff now. don't wait for the "next" time, it could be your last. good luck!
