I prefer mine down but, to be honest, I don't sweat the small stuff. There are bigger things in life to worry about. Life is so short that you have to choose your battles. The position of the toilet seat is a battle I choose to ignore. Now, what really annoys me is when family members come in the front door and leave a trail everywhere they walk. Or, when they open a package in the kitchen and leave the wrappers on the counter...for heaven's sake! the trash can is right in front of their face! It might sound like small stuff but it isn't because I am doing it for everyone who lives in the house...I spend a lot of time picking up everyone else's mess.

I'm with you Ilse. How hard is it to go that few extra steps to the trashcan. My husband piles up his trash until he is ready to clean up. He thinks that because he cleans up he can save it up. That drives me mad.

I hate it when guys (especially) put down the cover on the toilet bowl and squat(!) on the cover, leaving their dirty shoe prints on.

We try to remember to leave the seat and the lid down whenever we aren't in the bathroom. I have a friend who lets her dog drink out of the toilet (yeah, it IS gross!), and seeing that made me realize that if left open, my poor dog may consider the toilet to be a drinking fountain. So, the lid stays down and her doggy bowl stays filled with fresh, CLEAN water!

We use separate bathrooms, so the toilet seat is not an issue. I prefer the seat be up. However, I would not make an issue of it if he always closed it. I just need consistency. When I am in a hurry, I need to know what I have to do when I run in there. If you close it, then close it every time. If you leave it open, then leave it open all of the time. That few seconds can make a world of difference.

My mistake. My preference. Seat down. Cover up. I said it wrong. Who wants to sink into icy cold toilet water. Uggggg Ewwwwww.

Well seen as there's 2 females and only 1 male in the household the lid goes down, if there were 2 males and 1 female then I'd try to remember to put it up, There was a party at my partners mums house, there were about 10 people and only 2 girls, so I always put the seat back up.

I have been training our 5 year old grandson to put the seat down when he finishes tinkling. He had done well for the first 5 years, but now that he is nearing 6 he seems to have forgotten all about it. GRRRRRRRRRRR.
Hubby refuses to put it down. I can't tell you how many times I have dunked my buns in ice-cold water in the middle of the night.

Someone put the toilet seat up so someone has to put it down sooner or later.
