life is a gamble

"just make the best decision you can, and then move forward and dont look back, dont agonize on the decision once you make it. no second guessing."
They say life is a gamble, but some stakes are not worth the risks. What i am trying to figure out is until when can one stay in the game or when he/she will decide to fall and drop out
