Hi, I just started with mylots so I'm a little late in responding to your question. I'm a first grade teacher. First of all I would like mylotters to know that the money they vote for to go to public schools in their states?...very, very little of it goes to the teacher. My class begins at 8:30 AM. I arrive at school by 7:00 AM, at the latest. Often I have meetings to attend involving one or more of my students before class begins. School lets out at 3:10 PM. I never, never leave school before 5:00 PM and often later. I also take tons of work home with me to be finished for the following day. I spend AT LEAST two hours every evening on my take home work. On weekends I spend almost every Saturday, or a part of a Saturday doing something to my classroom. I spend EVERY Saturday and Sunday working on various curriculum for my students.. not to mention the time I put in when progress reports are due or report cards are due, or back to school night is coming up, and the nights I spend at school to accomadate parents who can not make the regular set-up schedule for parent-teacher conferences. I love my first graders!!! No question, I love my job!!
....hearing all of that. What do you think I should be paid mylotters?

I just want to say thanks, children definately need more teachers like you who put that much time and effort into their education! I hope that in the near future teachers are properly compensated for their truely valuble work!

It should be more results based but in some cases that could be unfair (i.e. having a class full of people that don't even want to try). A good amount would be $45-50,000 and then it adjusts from there.

there is an adage that says teachers reward is in heaven. i believe their reward can not quantified or measured in monetary terms because of their roles in child development and impartaion of knowledge. to me they should be paid $100 per day.

It depends on many factors. Teachers' income varies in regions. In my country, the teacher's payment of rural areas is relatively low than that of cities. It's rather unfair to teachers working in rural areas, let alone taking their working circumstance into account.
I think the payment of teacher should be equal to that of civil servant.

I think that the wages for teachers need to be raised. The low salary causes young people to not pursue this career field, because who wants to pay a ton a money for college and then make min. wage? Nobody does. Teachers a very valuable to our future and they should be compensated accordingly!

teachers should be payed according to the profit of the institution he/she worked with. of course a teacher in a university is most likely to be paid than a teacher of children in a daycare center. you see one factor is what is the degree of teaching the teacher has obtained. aside from it teacher are paid also in many ways and usually case to case basis such as teaching for a perhour basis, teaching part time is different to full time. the point is there are many factors why a teacher should be payed and why one teacher should receive more than another teacher. gud day to you friend
