He just got back from a 3 week vacation (he wasn't working, so I don't know what the vacation was from)and came to visit his daughter. he was still here when I went to bed at 11 last night, and since the buses run til after midnight, I assumed he was going somewhere else. However, he was in my daughter's bed this morning and she was in with my grandson. Now he thinks he is staying until he can find his own place. What the hell! He knows I can barely stand him and he's planning on moving into MY house without even asking! I'll have him moved out by the cops if necessary!

I'd flip!
Tell him he needs to get out today, and make his own way. You aren't his mother, you don't like him and you have no obligation to let him stay there.
I'd also tell your daughter to kindly run things past you before she makes a decision such as letting him spend the night and POSSIBLY telling him it can be an extended stay. It is your house after all. She could have asked your permission before allowing him to spend the night.

You have to do what is right for the kids. If he is an abusive person even if it is not to them he shouldn't be around them. They don't need to be exposed to that. Safety of the kids first.

Well, you have all the rights, Katy, and he has none. The problem probably lies with your daughter, in that she's let him persuade her into having him back, although her sleeping with your grandson, would make it seem like a one-off.
Tell him where he stands, and if he doesn't shift, do as you say and have him removed. Good luck and Brightest Blessings.
