How old was your daughter when you had her ears pierced? And where did you get it done? With my first they didn't let us do it until she was 6 months old and we had it done at the drs office and the dr was horrible. I thought since it was a dr's office they would do something to numb her ear before using the gun but they didn't and I could hear her screaming down the hall. After she was so upset for a long time it broke my heart. My second daughter is 2 months and i'm not looking forward to it even though I know she won't remember it.

I was 3 years old when my parents let me get my ears pierced. They basically said "when she asks for it, she can have it"... so we were on vacation in Ocean City, MD and I asked if I could get my ears pierced...so I did. Between the ages of 13-15 I pierced my ears on my own 7 more times (For a total of 8 piercings) and my parents didn't know about it until they saw it. Ha.

I was 8 years old when I had mine pierced. I was a bit of a tomboy so I had never asked to get them done but my mom wanted them done so she took me to JC Penney and had it done there. She had wanted to do them earlier but she was a nurse in a plastic surgeons office and saw too many younger girls and babies being brought in with earlobes ripped clean thru from getting their earrings caught on everything from blankets, to clothing, to hair and jumpropes. She was freaked out by that and waited until I was a bit older. When I was in high school I added an extra hole in my left earlobe with an icecube and a bit sewing needle. Ick. I still can't believe I did that. Why I didn't just get it done at the mall I have no idea. It would have been much faster, less gross, and cleaner Im sure. Stupid, stupid, stupid. I also don't agree with having babies' ears pierced and believe it should be their decision. The good thing is that they won't remember the pain although the parents will. I just think it's dangerous.

I was ten years old when my parents let me get my ears pierced. My older sister got hers pierced at the same age as well. When I have kids, if I have daughters, I think I'll wait and see if they want pierced ears. If they do, I'll probabaly make it a special occasion, like a surprise birthday present. I got my ears pierced at the mall, in the store Claire's. I have seen some mom's getting their children's ears pierced, but at the time I had mine done, the minimum age was a year old.

Thats a good idea to wait and make it special that way they can choose if they want it done or not. Wow at one I don't think i would do that to a one year old they remember a little bit more then and might be really mad at your for doing it at 1.

And don't you just know one of them will put a hole through an ear, and then you'll hear, oops! Didn't get that in the right spot, let's do it again!

honestly, I don't believe in getting a babies ears pierced. I didn't have mine done till I was in 6th grade. When/if my sons wanted an earing, they would have to prove to me first they could take care of it properly. Its just too much of a hassle and its something cosmetic, so it should be their own decision. but thats just my opinion. i couldn't put my baby, boy or girl through that type of pain at that age just because I wanted their ears pierced.

My daughter was 8 years old and that was when she decided she wanted to have her years pierced. I don't really believe in piercing a child's ear as a baby - what if they don't like it when they grow up? I preferred to let my daughter decided if she wanted it or not and when. Until she was 8 she didn't want to it was only at that age that she showed interest in piercing her ears and told us when she wanted to. So far she has only her ears pierced. Last year she told s that was considering piercing her belly button, but she didn't decided on doing it so far. IN any case it will be her choice. I had my ears pierced as a baby. Because I was a little bit of a tomboy I hated earings and took them off as soon as they were on. They ended up closing and I didn't miss it one bit. Later on- I was already an adult - I felt I would like to wear earing so I pierced them just to learn that I am extremelly allergic to metal and can't wear any earing that are not gold and it has to be 18K up, anything below will still give me a bad rash. In any case, I would never pierce a baby's ears, I feel it should be the child's choice to do it or not, so I would always wait until they are old enough to decide what they want.

We usually have their ears pierced before they even get out of the hospital. Basically about a or 2 day old.

I don't agree with piercing a child's ears - just because YOU want them done, i think piercing is something that has to be wanted by the person getting it done. My 3 year old niece asked for hers to be done & was allowed to have them done - so it was a gift to her from an Auntie for her Birthday. I think maybe it's best to wait until your child actually knows what it, then they can ask to have it done & you can then allow it (or deny it) & let them have it done for a special occasion - birthday, Easter, Christmas or whatever it might be! Here in Oz we have piercing places or sometimes we'll have a beautician working in a salon with a hair dresser - that's where i had mine done on a couple of occasions & they were lovely. I think i was 5 or there abouts when i had them done! Just hold off with your 2nd daughter, wait until she wants them done herself & then she'll be old enough to know not to touch the earrings & she'll also never hate you for forcing them to be done! Good Luck!
