Do you Prefer Cats or Dogs?

I have friends who prefer dogs, but then i have others who say that cats give way less work, are smarter and do what they want, so they prefer them.
I personally don't know...i love certain breeds of dogs, and some cats are absolutely disgusting, but others are really nice...I really don't know which one of the two I would pick.
What about you guys? do you prefer cats or dogs? Why?

Definitely cats! Dogs are too gross/unhygienic, loud, smelly, aggressive, and social. Give me a feline any day!

I love black cats and black cats ONLY. I can't stand dogs seeking attention all the time and I hate them (sorry to dog-lovers, no offense!) when they get really aggressive. Cats scratch things all the time too and that would probably drive me nuts but if I have to choose between the two, I would still choose black cats. I don't know why, I guess I just love the fact that black cats seem mysterious!

I prefer cat as she looks more tender and feminine. Her movement always appears to be quite stylist and elegant and she could run swiftly without making any noise. She always behaves as an understanding pet which could associate intimately with us. She has a sharp listening power and could sense us when we came back from outside. I like most the little cute kitten especially while they are playing with something like toys, ball….

I've had both. I love my Petey, he's been my best friend from the moment he was born. He passed away last year and there will never be another dog like him. He was extremely devoted and protective of me. And was a constant companion to me.
We got Morgana shortly before Petey passed away and when I lost him, she was such a comfort. She seemed to know I was greiving and would lay by me and let me pet her all I wanted. She's very independant but also loveable. I like that I don't have to walk her but I do have to clean her box.
So, I love both. I think they are both wonderful animals and can bring alot of happiness to a person's life.

yeah, that's the main problem for me...you end up loving them so much that when they die is so painful...that makes me think that perhaps it'd be better not to have any...but we will see...

I always had cats in my life, so I prefer cats. You don't need to walk them and yes they can be very smart. sometimes too much lol.But I also wish I had a dog, because I never really had one in my life. But I will wait until my little family are all old enough for that

I love both. At one time I preferred big dogs over little ones...or cats...even though we usually have a couple of each at any given time. Our oldest dog is our female Tasha who is 15 years. I have included a picture of our pampered pooch. She is a tan colored Shepherd/Lab cross and a true grand madame. Our other male dog is Cherokee and he's a Shepherd/Husky cross. Now that my hubby and I are less nomadic and are settling into a life that has a pleasant mix of work and relax time we are finding that the dogs require more upkeep.
If we want to go and visit friends for a few days..we have to find a sitter for the dogs. Our dogs also live a charmed life and are mostly indoor dogs except for when we take them out for exercise. My hubby says they are walking dirt bags and I must admit they shed, track dirt through the house in all kinds of weather and we have to constantly Febreeze the couch after they lie on it. But we love them...and have come to accept that we set it up this when they were puppies and they are probably too old...to teach new ways.LOL So we plan to keep them as pampered pooches until their time comes...because the add a lot of love and companionship to our lives.
Now we also have 5 cats...and we don't need a sitter for them...because they have each other and don't mind short times on their own. We make sure their litter is clean, live lots of water and food and have someone come in and check on them...and they are just fine and very happy to see us when we get back.
Sooo...what do I prefer? I guess I still love the different attributes dogs and cats have...but at this point I think I prefer cats from a lifestyle point of view.

I have always been a cat person up until I met my Rocky. I have two beautiful brother cats, they are pure black with beautiful gleaming coats and green eyes. One of them is excessively attached to me and is always in my lap and strokes my face when I look down at him. Then Rocky came into my life, he's 5 lbs. chi/terrier mix and is the sweetest little guy in the world. The cats are actually bigger than him by a wide margin. There were some jealousy issues with the cats but they let him know whose house it really is and he leaves them alone now. Rocky has a tendency to try to be the alpha in the house. Now I love both. I guess that's sitting on the fence, but honestly I just couldn't choose which I prefer, they are all my babies. At night one cat sleeps by my head, rocky sleeps behind my knees and the other cat sleeps at my feet. I feel like snow white.

I like both cats and dogs. I like cats because of the way they Meow. I find them cute and innocent. Dogs are the rough and tough types. Its nice when they protect your house.

Well I was bought up in a household with dogs and cats, and love all animals, - but I guess I really am a cat person. I have 6 of them - so I guess I must be! Cats are much cleaner than dogs, and also much more independant, and much better pets for people who work all day like we do. They don't need walking and exercise, they can go in and out of the house at will through a cat flap, and they can even be left over night in an emergency, providing enough water and dried food is left down for them. They are also far cleaner than dogs, less messy, less destructive, and far quieter - no nasty yapping, growling, and barking! Cats were worshipped in some ancient cultures, and they are somewhat mystical, very intelligent, very interesting creatures! I would choose them every time!

I personally like both animals, but if i were to choose i'd go with dogs. Primarily because they can serve as watch dogs at night, they can alert you of an intruder or something going near or into your place. Secondly cat poo is just soo nasty. I mean dog poo stinks but cat poo wreaks to high heavens.
Another down side to have cats especially the common bread, is that they shed a lot of fur which is bad if you have an asthmatic in the house.
If cat pooo didn't stink as much I may reconsider since they also help around the house with rodent problems.

I prefer cats, mainly because they are smarter and more independent. Then again, that's probably because my cat doesn't really act like your average cat. He can do tricks and he is very loyal to me like dogs are to their owners.
