Phone Numbers - How many of them you remember?

Since the time I have been using a mobile phone, i.e. since past four years, I have stopped remembering phone numbers that I call up very frequently.
All the numbers are stored in the mobile and I can hardly remember 5 phone numbers now whereas I used to have atleast 20 phone numbers that I could memorise when I was not using a mobile phone.
How many phone numbers can you remember now when you have started using a mobile phone?

This is a very good question and honestly I can not remember that many, other than my parents phone number and one of my closest friends as well as my work number. I usually have to rely on my cell phone to bring up a number. I used to be able to remember more numbers than that. With all the features the cell phones have and even landline phones, I think we have become lazy to try and remember phone numbers.

Nowadays we can save all the phone numbers in our sim cards or mobile phones so it’s not necessary for us to try hard to memorize them again. The numbers are easily searched whenever we need. Nevertheless I still remember some of the phone numbers especially those important phone numbers of our loved ones or unique one like 8833, 2007 or so.

The only number I remember is my own home phone number. I have stupid speed dial on all my phones!!! It's annoying when I am gone from home and I don't know someone's number!

I have a cellphone however, I only use it for emergencies. I do not use it just to chit chat with my friends. I use it if I get stuck on the side of the road or have a question about something and need my kid or husbands view. I have a plan that is 400 minutes a month however, I have never even come close to that number.
I use my home phone to handle any calls that are important as well as talk to family and friends. This is also less expensive as talking on the cell. The home phone also lets me have conversations that are private. On the cell phone everyone within a five block radius can hear what you are saying. I know that do not like hearing other peoples conversations. this means I do very well remembering phone numbers.

Not very great. I can only remember my own house phone and my mobile number (as well as my student number at university) and that is about all that can fit into my head. Which is quite strange because I tend to do very well in maths and can easily remember lots of formulas and proofs but not just not phone numbers.

Hello there. I can remember quite alot of phone numbers. I can remember my granny's home number, my uncle's mobile number, my mommy's mobile number, my father's mobile number, my brother's mobile number, my uncle's home number, my home number, mobile numbers of 4 of my friends and home numbers of 2 of my friens. =D I think the list should be longer than this. I am very sensitive to numbers since young and I can usually remember numbers quite fast.

Dear Ranjeet,
The topic was discussed in between our friends three days back. Most of including me have the same opinion as you expressed. Even I am using the mobile phone from the past four years and there is hardly three or four numbers in my memory. I think the invention of the cell phone is reducing the memory power. We are not using the our brain for that.
I used to remember easily 30 to forty phone numbers before I was using the cell phone.
In our discussions, we decided to delete the phone numbers of close friends and the numbers which were using very often. So that we will keep this numbers in our memory. This method may help us to increase our memory power

I used to be pretty good with numbers, you know back then when you just needed to pull a handle on site of your phone to get the central, pmsl, only joking. But is it me or did it seem to be a lot easier just 20 years ago, before the introduction of the mobile phone and pin codes? Personally i think so. Feel like i lived through whole history of communikation sometimes. But the development of tecnology has been so fast, most of it actually happened over the past 20 years.
I think it was easier to remember phone numbers in the past. Today i dont bother and get them in my diary and cellphone instead. Barely remember my own number or number to the emergency. Today there is only a few numbers i bother to remember and i do remember those.

I can not believe how can you find these kind of great discussions :) See you have already 80+ answers. And about your question i remember my both home numbers, work number, fax number, and 9-10 friends number. so totally 13-14 numbers are in my mind.
