Do you drink hot tea?

For some odd reason I like drinking hot tea or hot coffee, even in the hottest part of summer. Not that drinking hot tea makes me feel good, in fact it makes me feel like I'm boiling alive! So, I'm not sure why I like to drink it that way. Sure it tastes better than putting extra water into it to cool it down. But, other than that, there's no real reason. I suppose that I could put ice cubes into my tea before I drink it, but that would make my life way too simple. And, I don't like the way ice cubes melt and make the tea taste diluted. Sometimes I will refrigerate my tea for thirty minutes before drinking it, that way it's nice and cool. But, most often I like to drink it hot. How about you? Do you drink hot tea during the summer? Do you drink it during the winter? Do you cool off your tea with ice cubes before you drink it? How do you cool off your tea or beverage when it's really hot?

I love drinking hot tea! I don't drink coffee, but hot tea is good! I drink it regardless the weather too. But when I drink it I do need it to be kind of sweet! I put a few spoons of sugar in my hot tea when I have it. I don't really like drinking cold tea, it's gotta be hot for me! :)

Definitely! And, tea is so healthy too. Lots of anti-oxidents. Very good for the heart and brain. I've heard that women who drink caffiene based products are less likely to suffer depression, so that is a good thing as well.

I didn't know tea was good for the heart and brain! And that it helped keep depression away! Woot! :) I guess you learn something new everyday after all! =P

An email was sent to me by a friend few months ago. It says that drinking hot tea especially after every meal can bring benefits to the body. Because hot liquids helps melt the fats that we eat so that the body can break it down easily before it stays longer in your stomach. I dont know if there is some thruth to this. Although the email cited that the Japanese people have longer life span because they drink hot beverage after every meal instead of cold drinks. What you think?

Well, there could be some validity to it. You've also got to remember, whats in a Japanese diet vs a Western/US diet. Usually the japanese diet is much more well rounded, steamed, less fattening, with a tea or at least a less sugar based beverage. Meanwhile the western diet consists more and more of the quarter pounder, large fries, filet-o-fish, and a small diet coke (=/). Depending on the tea and the fats consumed however, the fats can break down (most consumed fat does not melt especially in a 98 degree environment, this is shown in cooking, steak for example) A different take on this would be fatty oils/grease. Its liquid but requires much higher temperatures to break down or otherwise lipase found in the human body. Perhaps the teas have something in them that can break down the fats, or they accelerate lipase action in the body.

I like my hot coffee in the mornings and sometimes early afternoon. On blistering hot days I have been known to drink iced coffee though. As far as tea goes I prefer it cold all year round. The only exception is if I'm having trouble sleeping sometimes I'll drink a hot cup of chamomile. Cooling off a hot beverage, well I just blow on it until it's drinkable.

I'm from the South and we are notorious for our iced lemon tea! However, with that being said, I've broken from the mold on this tea issue and still persist in my hot tea drinking ways. I'm a rebel with a cause.

Hi beautyqueen26! I prefer my tea to be hot. Most of the times I put milk on it and other times I just have plain tea. I love the flavored ones too but I want it served hot whether the day is hot or cold. Have a nice day and take care!

I love hot tea. I drink it during the winter, but not so much in the summer (I like iced tea in the summer). To cure the too hot thing for me, I just don't heat the water to a boil... I like mine almost boiling but not quite and it isn't too hot to drink at all. I can't handle tea from Starbucks, though, even though I love the flavor. They are way too hot and impossible to drink for an hour or 2.

I drink hot tea and coffee even in the summer. I just wait until it cools down a little, but usually I am too impatient, that I just sip it slowly. That is because I do not like it cold, it seems to get a bit too better for me. So when it is cold, I drink it as fast as I can.

I dont drink hot tea... I dont want hot beverages even milk, milo or coffee. I prefer warm but not hot. I dont know but ever since I was a kid, I do not drink hot beverages. My mother keep on convincing me to drink hot milk or milo in the morning because its good to warm the tummy but she could not do anything. She still cant convince me no matter how she try.

The only reason I would try to talk you into drinking heated milk is because of an old insomnia remedy I learned. Works for me most of the time. It also helps me get to sleep on nights I can't stop thinking. I also noticed better dreams doing this. Remember, with forums and input at least keep an open mind. BTW, if you don't wanna try it, perfectly understandable. Plenty of drinks that should be hot can be quite delicious chilled!

Same as u! At home whether its summer time or winter we always drink hot tea or coffee. It has become a habit and when I drink cold tea or coffee I feel very odd. I think I've inherited this habit from my mom she is always complaining if the tea is slightly cold she has to see some vapor coming out!

it sounds so odd to me that people should drink hot tea or whatever in summer, coz i never drink anything hot in summer. after talking a long walk or doing some sports i always die for cool water! i think maybe it's quite a diifferent concept of tea between chinese and westeners, we seldom drink tea when we're thirsty but do have soem tea when we want to have a break or relax.

Hot tea or coffee seems to relex me and when I get a headace or a migrane coffee helps it. I guess it's the caffene or the heat I'm not sure but it always seems to help me.

I love hot tea. I drink it all year long, a couple of times a week at least. When I'm sick I tend to drink it constantly. I do drink iced tea sometimes, but I make a full pitcher of it when I want iced tea.

Hi, i think that tea or coffee taste best whent hey are hot, at least tea, coffee we can have ice chilled and cold too. tea with ice cubes, wont taste like tea any longer i feel, for that kind of things we do have soft drinks and juices i guess. I enjoy my 2 cups of tea, one in the morning and one in the evening and like them hot too. Its another additional 2 cups making it four, during the winter days, when i love to hold on to my mug and warm my hands along side drink my piping hot cup of tea. No, i dont like cooling of my tea. And if its too hot and summery, i just have a single cup early morning and prefer my cold coffee during the day then. It gives me the best of both !!
