Have you read a good book lately?

I would love to hear about the books that you are reading or have recently read and would recommend. I am always looking for good things to read in varying genres; both fiction and non-fiction. I am currently reading "Running With Scissors" and am enjoying it very much!

I have read two novels of Ayn Rand
1. Fountainhead
2. Atlas Shrugged
Both are fiction and a bit philosophical

I read a lot but don't buy too many new books and that is mostly because of my budget. I get a lot of the Readers' Digest books from one of the many Charity shops we have here in Australia and once I have finished it, just return it to the same shop so they can resell it. Alternatively if we are travelling, then when the book is finished I either return it to a Charity Shop in the next town we come to or perhaps if we are staying in a Caravan Park I will put the books in the laundry.
That is a custom here in Australia where travellers leave their books and magazines for others to enjoy and generally they are left in the laundry. :)
I am currently reading "Year Of Wonders" by Geraldine Brooks and it is a historical book about the outbreak of Plague in a Derbyshire Village in 1666. It is excellent.:)

I read to my children a lot also. My older son is nine years old and while he reads well and enjoys reading on his own, also still enjoys being read to. I am reading things to him that are just a little outside of his reading comfort zone. It's something that we both enjoy very much.
For my younger son, he's four years old, we are reading the Magic Tree House book series together and having great fun with it!

I am currently reading Homecoming by Matthew Costello. It was written back in 1992, but its a really good book. I also love John Saul books. Black creek crossing was a really good one by him. Oh! and if you want to read some excellent books, read the Princess Sultana trilogy. I could not put it down and even when the third book was done, I was sad that it was over! lol
