I would choose the ability to Talk as I could still write and use sign language to comunicate..... I wouldn't want to loose the ability to walk and to have limited access to certain things. Would save more money not to talk, no more lenghty expensive phone calls.

I would lose the ability to walk. What if something was about to fall on someone? Or my loved one had a heart attack and I couldn't call 911? I could always use a wheel chair or crutches, but I would hate to write down everything I wanted to say. And I would lose all communication to the people that I don't see often, but instead call.

i would rather lost the ability to talk. There are always other ways and it would be a nice change. Walking is simple too much of a necessity and having experienced an extremely bad sprained ankle and having to use crutches...i do not ever want to have to go through this again, much less two legs messed up.,

I'm with you on this one, my friend. I would rather lose the ability to talk because there are other ways of conversing or getting your point over. I would hate not to be able to get out into the countryside and walk. That's one of the things I love to do, and often. I like to be at one with nature, so my sight and use of my legs are important to me.
Brightest Blessings.

I think I would have to agree with you OURDEW that losing both abilities would be REALLY difficult especially with a 14 month old, but I agree that walking is more important then talking. Love & Hugzz. P.S. Hope your Grandma is doing well.

This is an easy one for me! I'd rather loose my ability to talk...........right now I can not walk b/c of a herniated disk. I could communicate via the written word and physical touch. Right now I stay home most of the time and I can talk all I want to, but you can only talk so much to your best friend (who has a life). I feel like I am missing the end of summer (we have short summers here) and most of the things I enjoy doing require a person to walk more than 15' or for 10 min.

This is a toughy, but if I had to choose I would lose the ability to talk. There are always other ways to communicate besides by voice.

That would be hard, especially not being able to talk to my husband, when he makes me mad, which is every few minutes. However, I could always write stuff down. If I couldn't walk, that would be much worse. I have pets to take care of, and shucks, I like being able to go where I need to go. So looks like no talking is what I'd choose.

I hope we both won't reach a situation in our lives where in we had to make such decision. However, I agree with you. I would rather lose my ability to speak also because there are plenty of other options to convey what I want to say to people even with the absense of speech. But there is no substitute for the real leg. Cheers!

well this is very hard but i would go with talk, because i can try sign language and other ways of communicating, where if i couldnt walk i wouldnt be able to do the things i want with my kids.

There is no doubt in my mind the answer to this..its my ability to walk..ya see I am disabled because of my back and i cant get around and walk well anyways..i will soon be in a wheel chair in 10 years or so..so its coming..but I love to talk and make my son laugh and tell him I love him a million times a day..lol:)And playing games with him and telling him all those stories everyday,,if i lost that..i would miss my sons laughter..

I would rather not be able to walk. There are other ways to get around. If I couldnt talk I couldnt tell my kids I love them or my husband.

I also would choose to lose the ability to speak, it would be a difficult thing to get used to but would not impede my day to day activities nearly as much as not being able to walk.

Just for one year? Then it'll be back again?
I'd rather lose my walking abilities then. There are alternatives for walking but not for talking. You can actually use the wheelchair or crutches or just have your own mobile wheelchair or device. While your voice is the most precious thing, it would help you express yourself more than writing or typing or sign language.
I'd rather lose my walking abilities for one year. Than to lose my speaking abilities. But of course, I wouldn't want to lose both or any for life.
=)
Thanks for the topic. Made me realize how important these abilities are. We somehow take them for granted at times.

I'd probably lose my ability to talk. Some people still understand me without me saying a word. And I still have online. Heh heh.
