Do You Prefer to Read in English or in Your Own Language?

Hi Wonderful Queen, I am a Chiese as well, I read in both English and Chinese. But it happese that I will use English more often than I do in Chiense, because I am doing a job concering to International Trade, so I have to use English to communicate with people around the world. WBR,Andy

this depends you know. if in your daily engagement, you use or deal with certain language then it might have an effect on your preference. for me, i can enjoy things with both english and my mother tongue because i use them side by side in doing my job.

I am comfortable reading English books and Hindi, as well. My mother toungue is Hindi, so I love both languages and I do not face any problem in reading, writing or conversing in any of them.

I read in both. If the book's author's native language is English, i try to get the book in English, and if he's spanish, my native language, i obviously buy it in spanish. I don't mind, read in both of em.

Hi,wondericequeen,I have to deal with the same question.I'm a Chinese too and my major in university is also English.For me I think I prefer to read in Chinese.I know English is important in my study,maybe the most important,but I just like reading in Chinese.I like Chinese coz our native language is so beautiful and wonderful.

Hi , I'm Canadian from province of Québec. Québec is a french province so when i go on the web, on english websites, i must read in english and express in english , like on mylot.com :P But i don'T care.. English is always good to pratice but ,, when i'm reading a book by example , i prefer to read in my own language cause it's easier.. But english is easier because i'm french so i don'T know how it's for chineses...

i think both of them are needed , i reab persian book when i want to enjoy the novels , and real english book when i want to improve my reading skills beside enjoying novels.

Iam convenient in reading and writing in english.My mother tongue is Tamil but my medium of instruction was in english and hence iam convenient with this.

I am Indian and my mother tongue is Marathi and I know Hindi and English as well. However I find myself most comfortable with English when it comes to writing and reading. I feel a person is able to sound more convincing and give a touch of finesse with English. And so I prefer reading and writing in English.

I am also a Chinese. So I feel much more comfortable to read books in Chinese. Although English is also fine, but sometimes it'll take a longer time reading it. So usually I just browse websites in Chinese or English. As to the English books, I seldom read it.

I definitely prefer to read in english than in my own language because english language is a universal language in which it is very useful in our life like it is very useful at work and when u travel or go to any places here in the earth. As long as u speak english, u could understand english. Because every one of us study english than in our own language.

I too have two language, English and Pilipino. If its books I prefer reading in English, I think its because growing up we're always given english reading materials in school and I have gotten use to it. I do read the local newspaper here which are written in Pilipino language.

I usually prefer reading English books. I can read faster in English, and it's easier for me to find interesting books in English. But I like Chinese wuxia novels, and I read those in the original Chinese language. I'm not sure whether or not they've been translated, though.
