I am a Catholic but do not go to Church every week although I follow the teachings of the Catholic faith. My dear late grandmother used to say "you don't have to go to Church to be a good Christian and not all those who do go to Church are practicing Christianity in their every day life".

I disagree with you whatevertrevor as sometimes it is not possible for people to get to Church every week but one can still practice and follow the teachings of the Catholic faith. We have spend some considerable time in very out of the way places (i.e. literally hundreds of miles from a town) where there is no Church nor it there a Priest except for the occassional one who comes through a couple of times a year. I too agree with my darling grandmother because a person can be a follow the teachings of their faith without going to Church. :)

If you do not attend Mass every week you are not following the fundamental teachings of the Catholic Faith. It is a mortal sin to miss Sunday Mass.
What your grandmother said is obvious, but not relevant.
