Glued on the floor..watching her fave show on tv attentively!! :-)

Yesterday after I finished posting a discussion about how exhausted I was, i've decided to have a siesta/afternoon sleep. As I was about to sign out of yahoo messenger I received an invite from my father to view his webcam, of course I accepted it as I know it'll be my lil girl.
She was standing in front of the tele. I asked my father if what is she doing, he said that she's watching her fave show on tv and doesn't want to be disturbed. OKay, fine, so no disturbance eh? I was talking to my father online, so I could hear everything what they're doing, then I told my father to call her coz I want to talk to her, she shouted, eyes fixed on tele, said "no daddy, i'm watching the tv" I laughed when I heard her..LOL!! then I saw her so close to the tv, so I told my father to tell her to move away a lil bit, she did move, yes, but it was funny that she's moving backward eyes fixed and facing the tv. So I continued talking to my father while I was watching her on the webcam. And I was so amazed on how attentive and serious she was while watching the tv. Her facial expressions, her reactions, there were times that she wasn't blinking at all. LOL!!! What's so funny was that she didn't even move or left the spot were she was standing. It was like she was glued on the floor for almost 20 mins. LOL!!
Don't you find it amazing on how kids react to the television shows? Their facial reactions, expression and on how they imitate the characters on tv?
Is your child like that as well? so attentive when watching tv? I guess all kids are..and it's fascinating..*smiles*.

I don't have children myself but i have nephews and I used to work in a daycare and frankly I loved when the kids would be glued to the television. Simply put because they aren't going all normal crazy!
My nephew watches spiderman and as soon as spiderman turns INTO spiderman he starts going all crazy acting out everything that's happening in the movie! I'm like kid just sit and watch it! but then on other tv shows and movies he'll just stand there glued to the tv. that's my favorite!

yes i agree with you... kids are very attentive when they are watching the tv especially if that is their favourite shows... i don't have a child yet but i've seen many children behaving like that... it is just amazing...

Oh, my daughter is like that as well. We think that she got it from her dad. She just likes to watch TV. There are some kids shows that she truly loves. As in she will watch the entire show without being bored, I tell you, she gets a little bored easily with other things. But with these shows, she's glued to the TV. There are times, her favorite playmate whom she squeals with delight whenever they get to play, have kept on begging her to play with, but no such luck because she is apparently watching the television. They could not disturb her from watching at all!

You said it right, my son also is very serious while watching tv shows you cant even talk to him coz it seems that he cannot hear you talking as what his father is very serious that sometimes cant answer my question coz he dont hear me. Back to my son, even in playing computer games you cant disturb him. Its fun watching them doing that but my son also know where and when he have to stop himself watching tv shows he have his time for studying and doing his homework and he is also serious in this.

i think that's a common phenomenon lately. i'm not sure it's a good thing though since not all tv programmes are good for kids. and they get so absorbed in it that they might not be able to filter out the adverstisements and all the consumer culture that comes across the tv.
i think i would try to maange the time a child gets to spend in front of the tv. no more than 2 hours per day perhaps? it's also important to cultivate a love of reading and doing crafts. since it'll be sad if one recalls watching tv as the main pasttime in childhood.

Hi fab315! I am really amused with your daughter, she is really cute. As for me, I have seen that behavior with one of my nephews. His eyes are fixed in the television especially sponge bob shows and all commercials. Haha..it seems he was being hypnotized. Sometimes my mother in law will feed him infront of the tv but he will just open his mouth without looking at the food and his eyes are really fixed on the tv shows. However, amongst my nieces and nephews he is the only one like that because the others get bored and prefer running and playing with each other. Take care and have a nice day!
