I am white and I have a black daughter. Does anyone know any good resources for me to learn how to put her hair in tight braids or cornrows? I just cant seem to figure it out.

You could try going to one of the near by beauty schools. They may charge a fee but it's no nearly as much as they would charge out in a regular salon. The students there are learning all the time about how to braid hair. Some of them will even teach you how if ur willing to learn. Also you purchase some books on braiding. I would try to teach you myself but it's something that's more of a hands. Good luck!

I live in St. Cloud, MN. I've tried beauty salons and pretty much every hair company in our area and none of them do braids or cornrows. Do you know of anything in the st. cloud area that does that, that I don't know of? or even the surrounding area? I need help!!!

I'm a hairstylist and i've had my hair done in tight braids once. The girl that did my hair said the trick is to keep your knuckles on the scalp. If you can do a french braid you just take smaller sections of hair and pull tight and keep your knuckles tight to the scalp. It can be very painful to have it done. I know it was for me.

Braids, I can certainly concur with what ur saying. It's very painful to get braids but what about for the person that is actually doing them. I've braided many heads b4 and what about the cramps that ur fingers get from trying to make those really tight braids. Tight braids are not for me.
