Do you HAVE to clean the kitchen before you go to bed?

Is having a clean kitchen before you go to bed a MUST in your home? If so, why? Are you afraid it will attract bugs if you don't? Is it just a matter of being tidy? If you don't, why not. Is it just not THAT important? Or you too tired at night? Please share your habits and your reasons with me. In my case, just as most things in my life, it depends on my mood. It depends on how tired I am and how hectic my life is... Now it's your turn. Thanks in advance for your response.

For me, it doesn't have to be squicky clean..as long as the dishes are safe from bugs and insects,it's ok.. so I make sure they are washed and stored at the cupboard before sleeping.

The way I see it, I can either do it before I go to bed, or I can wake up to that mess in the morning. I am not a morning person so seeing a messy kitchen when I wake up will pretty much make me miserable all day. So I will do the dishes at midnight or even 1am just so I don't have to wake up to it in the morning... maybe once a week I will leave it to the morning, usually when I know I will sleep in in the morning so I won't be so grouchy. LOL! While my husband was away I finally got my girls helping with the dishes so that's less work for me.

It really depends. I try to get the trash all thrown away, and the dishes put in the dishwasher at least. I don't usually get the dishes started, though. Usually by the time we finish eating, and I go through the bedtime routine with my son, I'm too tired to do any cleaning. I just want to sit down for a while and relax. I do usually get my kitchen stove and counters wiped down they following morning if I didn't get to it the night before. I do it while, or before I fix my son's breakfast.

I definitely like to clean the kitchen before I go to bed, but this doesn't mean that I get to it every night! I do it because I like to wake up to a clean kitchen. It motivates me for the day somehow and makes it go more smoothly. There's nothing more stressful than waking up to a sink full of dirty dishes and a stove splattered with grease.

I always make sure my kitchen is clean before bed. One reason is bugs and the other is, I like a clean kitchen to cook breakfast in. I also make sure the bathrooms and the living room is clean before bed because you never know who might pop up at your door the next morning. But a kitchen should be a must...

I used to keep a very clean house until I was hit with Fibromyalgia and arthritis several years ago. Now it's not so clean. I don't always clean up the kitchen after I cook because there are days when cooking even standing takes a lot out of me so as long as it's not absolutely filthy, it can wait til the next morning!

no, i dont have to clean the kitchen before going to bed at night coz my cousin do that for us. i think she's gone overboard with her obsessive-compulsive behaviour coz she's not satisfied with everything around her though she's cleaned everything about three or four times already. says she doesnt want anything to crawl on the stove, the tiles, the sink or anywhere else so she makes sure that everything is speck and span right before we go to bed each and everynight!

Call me 'ocd' if you want, but I must have a clean kitchen before going to bed. In fact, the kitchen is cleaned after every meal. It's just part of the return in our household. Counters must be washed and dried. Food must be scraped off plates and dishes must be washed. All types of bacteria lurk in your kitchen. Once you make this a part of your daily routine, it's not so bad. You won't feel tired once you understand why you are doing it. It's for your health.

I don't entirely clean the kitchen but I do make sure that the dishes are done and nothing can attract the bugs. But when there are days that I don't feel well and I don't have the energy anymore to clean, I soak the dishes in soap so that it'll be easier to wash them the next morning. Sometimes I still push myself to make sure the kitchen is clean before going to bed because I want to see a clean kitchen the next day. There was a time when I wasn't feeling well and I asked my husband to take care of the dishes because I wanted to lie down, he said yes. And he eventually forgot all about it. When I went to the kitchen the next morning, what I saw ruined my morning. Dirty dishes piled on top of each other. So, that's why I try to clean the area as much as I can. It only takes one look at a dirty kitchen in the early morning to ruin one's mood. Well, that's what happens to me.^_^

It definitely depends on my mood, the amount of mess and the rest of my plans. Normally, I clean up as I go, and leave the dishes for another one of my house-mates. I generally like to keep things neat and tidy, but I'm not all that fussed if the dishes are left over night, as long as everything has been rinsed and there's no food left out.

I try to laod the dishes, clear off the counters and wipe them down every night. I notice that it makes for a much calmer, happier morning if the kitchen is a pleasant, tidy place to walk int in the mornings. I also think it's nice to not have to fight a mess just to make a pot of coffee. However, if I am tired, or the evening has been hectic, I can ignore the mess. I may regret it in the morning, but it woon't keep me up at night!

I used to be like that. It was a habit I formed when I lived with my brother & SIL. But now it just depends on the night. Sometimes I will just do the dishes from the night before while dinner is cooking the next day. I don't let it go more than one day though. Then it starts to bother me. But the funny thing is, it bugs me when I'm at my brothers house. I thinks its just habit. I will get up & start doing the dishes after dinner at their house & I don't even live there anymore. lol

I do the dishes a majority of the time in my household. I try to clean the klitchen at night so I don't have a huge mess after breakfast is done. I hate trying to make a pot of coffee and the sink and counters are dirty etc. I clean my pots etc as I get done cooking also. I have most washed before the food gets warm so it's a lot easier later to finish the dishes as well. I am a stickler for a clean sink & counters. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Yes, I have to, I can not think of anything worse than waking up to dirty dishes etc...I also would not be able to go to sleep knowing that they are sitting there..

I love to wash dishes. I guess because sometimes it can be quite a challenge. Especially when it comes to the baked on foods. I like for my kitchen and bathroom to stay clean all the time. Sometimes I get lazy or even busy, but I prefer it to be clean.

Part of it is just wanting to be tidy and not wake up to a messy kitchen or sink full of dishes. The other part is that if I don't, it'll attract ants. Which are not only annoying, they're difficult to get rid of once they come in.

I am way, way too busy to worry if I am exhausted and the kitchen isn't perfectly clean. I am not much of a neat freak - though I wish I was. I just catch up when I wake up. I don't leave food out, of course, but otherwise, it'll be there for me when I get up.
