I am a member of this general message board and I asked the Admin there if they would mind deleting my account because I no longer wish to post there anymore.
Well I was told that they don't delete accounts that I could choose not to come back and post but it's their policy not to delete anyone.
I was not happy about it.
Now, maybe I am making a big deal out of this in everyones opinions but when I make a request and they won't honor it, I get really upset.
Has this ever happened to you?

I have had that happen and it really upsets me as well. I've also come across different sites that have my name and city where I live and when I asked them to remove it they refused (it was a birthday site). I threatened to sue them and it was removed a day or two later. I think that if you ask to be removed they should honor your request no questions asked.

Thank you two. I am glad someone understands.
I had my last name in one of the threads in a public forum(I didn't post my last name, someone started a thread with my last name in the title) but thats about it. No ther personal info anywhere else.
I guess they dont want to lose their membership count or maybe they don't to come out looking like a bad guy for deleting me.

Because on this particular board, I got into an argument with the board owner over some posts I responded to so I said to her if she is going to interrogate me over the issue I don't want to be a member there anymore and would she kindly delete my account. I was really angry and just wanted to not even show I existed on that board.

Can't you delete your own account? Though I agree that normal practice on message boards is just to log out and not post again, edit your profile first so it contains no information about you and its as good as deleting yourself for practical purposes.

I cant delete my account myself unfortunately, I have already tried that. :(
The only thing I can do is delete the info in my profile as you suggested.

Thanks Micheal.
I understand every board has their own rules and guidelines.
I will make sure to read the TOS next time.
