Catholic Church

If a church is not required for salvation, then why does Jesus build one? Matthew 16:18

As I have said to you before Jesus did not build the Roman Catholic church. The church he built is NOT what people think of when they think of church. His church is the fellowship of believers. It has nothing to do with a building or priests or anything that people think of when they hear church. IF a church was REQUIRED for salvation then that would have been Jesus's only purpose on earth - to start the church. JESUS is the ONLY THING needed or he wouldn't have gone thru the torture he endured and finally crucifixion. He established HIS church as a way to spread the word of his saving grace. IF the church was needed he would have said something to that effect. He didn't. What he said was "no one gets to the father but thru me". Notice he did not say "no one gets to the father but thru me and the church". I feel for people who have been taught that they need the church to be saved. It just isn't true but that is how they try to keep people there.

Also the title of the discussion is Catholic Church; as I have said Jesus did not start the Roman Catholic church. The OP was asking if the RC church was needed for salvation and it is not needed.

I was distracted when you say, "Who is the Church to say that people are dommed?". As far as I have learned, the Church is founded not by any human being but Christ himself, the God made man. Of course you will not believe on this because you do not want to be subjected by any authority as I perceived on your personality. I pity you because you're the one looking after yourself to be doomed.
