When do you start Christmas shopping?

I start doing some christmas shopping during the summer. I like to do it this way because I don't have to spend so much money all at one time around christmas. This way I can just buy a little here and there when I see something someone might like. I was just wondering if others waited until Christmas or if they started shopping early like I do. My husband's grandmother goes to sales after Christmas and buys some stuff for people for the next year. That's pretty good because she gets stuff for cheap and can give it as gifts and not have to spend so much money on the items.

I usually save money for black friday the day after Thanksgiving but this year money is kind of tight so we are going to start Christmas shopping next pay check which will be in 2 weeks. We are going to get all the gift cards out of the way first since there isn't any saving on that. I want to get my oldest daughter the FP3 player and my youngest the amazing animals train and my husband a set of really nice knives since he loves to cook so much. Thats their big gifts of course I will get them all kind of other stuff.

i used to buy all year long and put it away when the kids were smaller, but now, that they are older, its hard to do that. so i wait for black friday and go with all my friends. mostly shop for me that day because of the sales. the kids want very expensive things, so my husband and i pick a night in december and go to dinner and shop for them then. its fun for us to do.

I start around now - I knit things for gifts, as well as buy tings, so I try to plan everything out.

I usually wait till the last week or two when there are good sales. If I find something I know someone would really like I do buy it. I Love christmas shopping for my kids.

I've already started the process of shopping for Christmas gifts. I'm being really creative this year due to lack of money. The quality of the gifts will not decrease, I just will have less money to spend on them. I like to be able to thoughtfully consider what to buy. I don't want to just give someone whatever was left after the Thanksgiving sale. : )

With regards to Christmas shopping, I am like a student who crams for the exams! Obviously, I do last minute Christmas shopping. Most likely I would just give a little red envelope with money in it to children who I forgot or run out of ideas what present to give. Shame on me.

I usually start in October hoping to spread the bills out over a three month period. However, someone on here mentioned a sale at Clare's a couple of weeks ago so I went and bought a few things for my girls' stockings.
At a family gathering this past weekend it was mentioned that we were going to go back to drawing names at Christmas so I guess I'm glad I haven't started shopping otherwise I may have bought something for someone I wouldn't have to buy for. It's been hard buying for my two sisters and 5 nieces and 3 nephews. Now add on some spouses and another generation of children. It's getting to be a bit much for me so I'll be happy if we do decide to draw names. But it can't hurt to start shopping for my husband and kids now.

I start in Januray =) Whenever I find something on sale or clearance that would make a good present I buy it and put it away in my closet. So if smeone's birthday comes up and I forgot or whatever I will still have something to give them =)

For my 5 year old son, I go about 2 weeks before Christmas, because I like him to get to open his gifts on Christmas morning. For the rest of my family, including my husband and myself, I wait until after Christmas when everything goes on sale. My extended family and I rarely get a chance to get together until middle of January anyway, and between my husband and myself, we don't see the point in paying more for something that will be discounted right after Christmas anyway. Yeah, we're cheap. But it's the thought that counts, right? lol.

Hi sweetgirl!
I usually start the day after Christmas!! Yes, I start that early. Being on a limited income, it makes spending/person a lot easier if I can spread it out throughout the year. The worst part about starting that early... I tend to Lose presents or forget who I purchased them for. LOL! If my children would stay out of the gift closet, I wouldn't have to hide them so well.
I try to have the shopping parts done by my birthday... Nov. 1. Then the real fun of wrapping starts. This also give me enough time to realize who still needs stuff and who is done.

Hi there sweetgirl_k1
I usually start my Christmas shopping after Thanks Giving and Hallowe'en are done. I live in Canada so Thanks Giving is in a few weeks, and Hallowe'en is of course at the end of October. I will probably start to get my Christmas shopping started in November. I hate being last minute, my brother is the worst as he waits until Christmas Eve to hit the mall and get all of his presents!

I just recently started my Christmas shopping, and of course its all for my baby boy...lol.. I am normally finishing up my shopping in september, but I got behind this year. I also like to go right after Christmas, you can find great deals on not only gifts for the next year, but on paper, bows, etc.

I start shopping right after Christmas. I use half the money I make online to buy presents for Christmas, birthday, anniversaries, etc. If I have the money at any time of year, and I see something on sale that I think someone in my family will like, I buy it. I have a big family, so I do try to find stuff on sale, no matter what time of year it is.
Then in November, I will use whatever I have left over after I finish the rest of my Christmas shopping, to buy presents for my son for Christmas, and his birthday (Feb. 1). I've already bought him several things, so I'm not worried about not giving him much.
