Personally, I am not religious, and thus do not believe in a God, so I choose to believe that I fell in love with the person because I was ready and they were worthy.
That said, though, I am thankful and grateful for what I have, I just do not worship a God.
For those who believe - Yes, I think it is a path that God aids you in when you are ready and wanting.

Indeed Malyck, and that is why I considered that in my opening post. I at least wanted to consider the atheistic argument as well (which by the way is perfectly fine in my opinion). At least my answer can be dissected with or without the God factor, and hopefully people find it helpful/insightful in some way.

I think that God is a good portion of the kindness/love in our hearts. I also think some of it is from the innate self (nature), another part of it is from the family (nurture), and a fourth part of it is the kindness and love we receive from other people and life at large (friends, pets, even the fellow man and human condition).
The atheistic response would probably disregard God but would use an argument similar to the one I presented. Personally, I still think God has a major role in kindness/love in the hearts of man. And I do agree that there is the existence of other emotions, all the will of God, but it is our experiences that shape what we do with each emotion in day to day situations.
