We do not have AC at all of our schools. It was so hot at school today. It was 8:00am I am standing in a hall with 50 kids and I was sweating buckets. It was so so hot I felt just horrible for all of those little ones. I picked my kids up so they could have a nice cool ride home. ANd they have decided to let them out early due to the heat. I am so glad. It is just miserable in there. I sent water with both of my boys uuuuugggggghhh. I only had to be there for 2.5 hrs and shuuuu I am zappped from the heat!

I know what you mean. I went for a meet & greet today at my youngest school, and it was HOT in there. I was sweating like a pig in 10 minutes. I hope they have air or fans or something for tomorrow when the little ones go back to school.

I just checked the weather for Friday,(my 5 year olds first day of school) and it is going to be sunny with the high of 96. He is morning kindergarten, so maybe it won't affect him so much, but I wonder, will he want to eat lunch or go swimming when he gets home?

We have a hot weather policy at our school though now all the rooms have AC anyway so the school is probably the coolest place for them so I usually send my kids. Though when the temp hits the 40+C range for a few days in a row then they can sometimes stay home - at that point everyone's brain is just mush anyway so it's not like they'd learn anything :-)

I would say there is very little learning going on

In Phoenix all the schools are air conditioned, I think. But to expect fried brains to think is not logical. They can't.

Good for you. I feel sorry for any who's parents have cars with out air conditioning.

That is insane. My oldest is just entering Kindergarden this year and today was the Kindergarden orientation. So it was just that grade level there today and just with that amount the place was baking from the heat from outside and body heat. They do not have central air there or air conditioners for the children. Luckily here in PA, there will just be a little bit of time in the beginning and end of the school year where this will pose a problem. But heat makes it hard to concentrate so all schools should be made to have air of some sort.
