How is your memory? Mine is horrible!

Sometimes I feel like I am having an early onset of alzheimer's disease. I had a bad lapse the other day at work and got myself in trouble. I was putting results in to the computer for a urine micro when the lab downstairs called. They wanted me to relase some results so that they would be sent immediatly to the Dr. SO I had to get out of the patient I was working on and put in the new number. Then I turned to hang up the phone, and when I turned back to my computer, I forgot what I was doing. I saw the urine results sheet sitting there, so I continued to enter results. Not only did I NOT release the results, but I continued putting in patient results on the wrong person!!
Luckily, our system only releases results to the Dr when all tests are complete, or when we manually do it. So none of the erronous results went anywhere. But unfortunaly, my boss was the one who found the boo boo when she tried to put in the results on the second patient, and saw that his urine was already resulted.
I would have caught the mistake when I put in the second results, but I was at lunch, so she did it.
This is the absolute worst case of my bad memory, but there are lots of times that I just can't remember stuff. It's frustrating, I will ask my Dr about this when I see her next month.
So what is your best memory loss story?

I have a bad memory too. Several times because of i couldn't remember the names i had to cut what ever i was talking about. Or mostly i forgot the names who is introduced me a minute ago. It is all about concentration. Now i start to repeat inside peoples names so it takes a little while for me to forget. But at the end i always forget :D

Oh, I do that all the time. It's pretty frustrating! Sometimes, I don't remember, until much later, that I was looking for something. I'm so easily distracted.

I doubt whether you early alzheimer's disease.
We all have memnory problems from time to time.
Judging by the stress yiou have been under (from your other discussion), it is more likely you are suffering from stress. This can definitlty affect your memory.
See a Doctor, as there is help.

Ouch that was a big mistake , thankfully you were not in too much trouble over it as you still have your job so your boss must have realized this was not something you always did . It would be a good idea to bring it up with your doctor just in case their is a reason behind your forgetfulness .
I have found lately that I forget things easier as well . Not sure if this is because I am getting older or if it has anything to do with the medication that I have to take each day . My dad says it does have to do with the heart medication as he finds he is forgetful as well and he takes the same medication as myself but I never noticed it until lately .
My biggest memory lapse would be in forgetting to take my medication for a full week . I was feeling really miserable and thought I was getting the flu when it dawned on me that I hadn't taken anything that I was supposed to all week . Once I started taking them again , I felt better so it was that big of a deal . Saved me a big of money as now I only have to get them a week later then I would have lol .

Well, i try to list things to do the following day so I wont forget the things that I have to do. I do it in the evening sometimes while at work list them so to make sure that I dont forget. I also bring a list in going to the grocery so that I can save time and so that I will be able to buy everything that I need.

I used to have a pretty good memory for facts & stuff, but since I had a severe allergic reation in 1984 my memory has been terrible. That's also the point where my allergies got so bad.
I can't tell you exact stories, because I forget them too, but I just can't seem to do anything right - need to write a letter for my mom now - I forgot to do it yesterday.

I am always forgetting thing, Cha. Sometimes they are important, like a doctor's appointment or some other necessary appointment. I have taken to writing things down a lot. This helps to some degree. The best remedy is to not become so involved in too many tasks at once.

MIne is not as exciting as yours.I have three boys. So wether it is memory loss or just plain distraction of thinking too much at one time I do not know. BUt I have been in mid sentence or discussion and completely forgot what we were talking about or what I was saying. I will look at one kid and call the other ones name. I will casually mention something to someone and when they bring it upo a few days later I have no idea what they are talking about. I was going througha depression and this was so frustrating at the time. I could not remember what I had just done or did earlier that day, and people thought I was making it up. It was scary. Since getting treated for depression and other things it has lessened. I just add it to having a houseful of kids.

Hi ChaJudLeoBit! I guess I just have few minor lapses but nothing really major. Usually I forgot it for a few seconds and remember it after that. I just hope that it would not worsen. They say that we just have to exercise the mind by reading and doing some quizzes but that didn't help because I still do have some short lapses. Have a nice day and take care!

From a mom's perspective, I'm not sure even how to respond to this one, as you haven't mentioned it in person to me. It's possible you are working "on automatic" which is something we all do a little of, but working with tests and results and the computer, would, I think take a little more concentration. Perhaps you just need to discipline your mind to stay on the job a little more. I'm just not sure what's going on with you lately emotionally. Another thing to consider...you are working quite a lot and spread pretty thin...that can contribute. Plenty of rest is crucial. But still, checking with the doctor sounds like a good idea. Don't forget! LOL. Love you bunches..

That is very scary when it happens, perhaps you have something going on in your life and have difficulty staying focused. I honestly do not have any answers for you and it is something you need to be aware of because it could have disastrous results in your work. I am sure you system has a double check source because as you say your boss caught it but it doesn't speak well for you it this happens frequently, most employers need to know that you are responsible and will stay focused. So please do talk to some one and try to get it sorted out, and take care

Performance of my memory depends on a few factors. I don't have a precise explaination to decide whether my memory is good or not. It's just like the variable, not constant. However, my memory can works best with preparation and mental setting.
Actually, I need to improve my memory because I could not remember the thing that I read a few hours before exam. I'm not interested in memorizing something, but if I can relates the thing with my interest, that way my memory will works better. My memory performance depends a lot on my interest for something.

It sounds like your under alot of stress.Everyone forgets stuff. We are a very multitasked society.I went thru a bout with it myself for awhile.Stress can cause alot of problems that way if you let it.Try and do as much as possible to relax. It's not a easy world.

When I was a student ,my memory is good. However, since I granduated from unversity ,I finded my memory is poor.Maybe the reason is that if we leave school, our memory wouldn't be used offen.
