I love my boys, both of them equally. But it's funny as a mother, because you love their achievements just as much as you love their bad habits.
My eldest son is a nose picker. Well, not just a nose picker, but a nose stuffer as well. It's absolutely disgusting. He just turned two and has been performing this trick for over 6 months now.
There have been a couple episodes which were worse than others. For instance, once he sneezed chicken out of his nose while eating dinner. And perhaps the most memorable was when we were on a family trip and when I looked into the back of the van, there he was rolling up bread and stuffing it up there. EW! GROSS!!I tried to catch him in the act while on the family trip and here is a pic of the results.
Sometimes I think it's a comfort thing, but other times, I'm just revolted.

Thats quite funny. He will grow out of it soon coz he will realise that friends at school will tease him about it. Your right - it probably a comfort thing.

My son dabbles in the nose-picking thing, but I usually get to it first. He hasn't yet shoved anything up there, but it's only a matter of time. He's more of a mud and dogfood kinda guy, lol. He'll trade the biggest dog his sandwiches and meats for the dry dogfood. It tastes horrible, but it won't kill him, so as long as he eats SOME people food, I figure he'll grow out of it eventually. He did make the most phenomenal mudpie yesterday. It was a work of art..... but he ATE it! Worms and all!
Blessed Be

Why do boys do this? My son did that stuff when he was little. He never did chicken but he did shove a pea up his notsril one day. Maybe it was his way of telling me he did not like the menu. At least he finally grew out of it. At least I think he did.

Maybe he just does it without thinking. You should let him know that it is gross and that not many people will be comfortable seeing him doing it, especially in public.

We have 2 nose pickers here. I admit that our oldest does it more when he's got a cold. Our 3 1/2 yr old constantly has his fingers in his nose. It's so gross. Neither of them have put anything (other than a finger) in their noses so far. I'm hoping they don't start that. The preschool has a really big problem with our youngest son picking his nose. They make him wash his hands every time he picks which he absolutely hates. The funny thing is they asked me why it's so hard to get him to wash his hands. We don't have that problem at home (with the hand washing). I think it's because he thinks it's a punishment.
I hope you find a way to get him to stop stuffing things up his nose. That has to be scary.

I agree that it doesn't take much to understand why he doesn't like washing his hands at school. For some reason they just don't understand it. I really hope they don't find it fun to put other things in their nose either.
Thank goodness everything that your son has put up there has come back out. My dh told me about when his brother put a french fry up his nose that apparently stayed up there for a week or so before it came out. Yuck, is all I have to say about that.

Well, it doesn't seem like much of a mystery why he doesn't want to wash his hands at preschool. I really don't think that takes a genius to figure out.
To be honest, sometimes it is a little scary, but once he gets something up there too far, it makes him sneeze and it all comes out.
I hope for your sake that your two little ones don't discover the "fun" of putting stuff up their noses. If they haven't yet, then I imagine they likely won't. Fingers crossed anyway. :D
