Do you add smiley faces and hearts when you are writing letters to friends?

Years ago, I had a really good friend that would write me letters about once or twice a month. This was during the stone age, way before Internet access. She was my good friend from school days and since we lived so far apart, found letters to be a very economical way to stay in touch with each other and share special moments from our lives.
She loved using smiley faces and hearts all through her letter. It was the sweetest gesture and always made me feel special when I got one of her letters.
How about you? When you are writing a letter to a friend, do you use smiley faces and hearts to indicate happy emotions or love? Do you like it when other people do the same?

I don't even think my answer is valid since much of my letter writing is online (full of smilies), or its for business (no, no smilies there...)
I respond with smilies on online posts, emails on occasion. Sometimes I like getting them back since I do take things a little too seriously (it helps me tell what the tone of the post/letter is). Otherwise I'll take you seriously and my tone will probably change.
Yargggh, so complicated, when it can really be simple =/

Yeah, that's one of the big reasons that I like letters with hearts and smileys and such, whether it's a written (paper) or typed (email) letter. It tells me what the other person was feeling or at least how they want me to take what they have said. Would be nice to know how they really feel, but I have to rely upon them to tell me!

I had a girlfriend who wrote letters to me once. She used a lot of smilies and emoticons, and a lot of hearts as well. When I wrote her something back, I'd only use some harts (sometimes this one:

If I am sending them an email I do or when I type out a letter I do. I like it when others do it too.

I used to do a lot of letter writing b/c I've always had such pretty penmenship. Since I got online, my penmenship has gotten worse and most everything is typed. I still add smileys either way and have been known to insert an LOL in written letters.

Hi there. I do add cheeky faces to my letters, wether Ive written them, or typed them in... I think they enhance and express, what Im talking about in my letters... I like to draw the smiley with the tongue sticking out...

Yes i do that a lot and i love using it, the same as i love seeing it the letters i received.. but i started using it only when i started using text messages.. Before, when i write letters (pen and papers) i am not really fond of using smileys. It depicts emotions, it add "color" to the letter and one will really know the mood of the writer when you see smileys. :-D
