Do you believe there is life on other planets, or are we alone in the vast cosmos? There are so many other "worlds' out there, what would be their purpose?

...it seems, that after we realized, due to the vast space of the universe, no one could really be visiting us.. then in some (or even most?) circles of UFO'ology now feel the extraterrestrials are "of another dimension" or (i.e.) spiritual.. This reminds me of angels and demons..

Do you mean intelligent life? As they have discovered life on Mercury or Venus (don't remember which), just it was one and two celled organisms living in the upper atmosphere of hte planet. And yes I believe that there may be intelligent life in the universe somewhere, just not in this galaxy.

They discovered microscopic fossils on Mars. They also discovered asteroid fragments in Antarctica with unusual microbe fossils there too, but I do get what you are saying Bumbleskull. By the way Mercury has no atmosphere so your claim probably applies to Venus. It would fit since Venus is basically a toxic and pressure cage, only microscopic life would be able to live there given the existing conditions.

Thanks for you comments. It would seem that we agree that there has to be life outside the earth. Everything on earth appears to have a purpose, surely the universe must be the same. Blessings.

No, I don't think there is life on other planets... yet. I think there will be, once this issue of "good and evil" is settled!:)

Oh yes - I am sure there is! Maybe not the "little green men" and ET-type characters we see in movies, - but why should earth be the only planet in this vast cosmos, that has developed some form of life? There are so many things "out there" that we don't know anything about - and closing our minds to the possibilities is not going to make them go away is it?! I would actually love to travel into time and space and find out for myself - it would be the ultimate exciting experience I think

Hi rosie, once again we agree. Closed minds have long stopped progress. Thank you.

I think that since the universe is endless it would be narrow minded to think that we are the only life form in the universe. I think there are countless planets in the universe and maybe the life is just single celled creatures, but yes I think there is life of some sort out there. Some days I think that maybe I am just a spec of dust in the wind in the grand scale of things. Maybe earth is just some kids toy like a sim city.

Hi whywiki, Good response. I agree with you, I think the earth is just a speck of dust. It would not be logical to think this was the only planet with life.

Yes I do think there is life on other planets. How could we have an endless universe and only one tiny planet with life on it?

A Little Robin - A little Robin in my tree
I think there is. I mean we are here so why couldnt there be life somewhere else? I dont think in my life time we will find it though. We might never find it. The universe is so big that thee has to be some kind of life somewhere.

Yes, I believe there is life on other planets. As Jodie Foster said in the movie "Contact" - "The universe is a pretty big place, it's bigger than anything anyone has ever dreamed of before. So, if it's just us, seems like an awful waste of space."

Well, every planet, star, solar system galaxy and universe has a purpose otherwise it wouldn't be there. :) What is your purpose? What is my purpose? Well all have purpose otherwise why would all of us be created? I have read somewhere, that life exists even on the sun. You can't believe it right? But it does. Scientists have found bacteria to exist even in a temperature as high as the sun. So bacteria is life right? Now, life doesn't mean only air, water and oxygen. I don't know why scientists think only the human way of living is life. And air and water are not just the necessary ingredients for life to exist. There could be something subtle too. It's about adaptation. So, when God is omnipresent, omnipotent and omniscient, there's not question of life not existing anywhere else. In God's omnipresent eye, life exists everywhere in every form.:)

It is hard to know but we are trying to discover it. I think we need more time to continue the process of research and it is not impossible to find life in other planets than earth. Yes few days back we came to know about the other sun so we can't imagine what could happen. May be we won't be able to see it but our next generation or their next generation one day may know result.

Yeah I do think there is life on other planets. I don't think we could possibly be the online ones in this galaxy or anything like that. It's hard to think about stuff like that because we haven't discovered any really "intelligent" life out there like us just small organisms. I hope their are other life out there. Hopefully they are like us or something. It'll be cool if one of these days we find clues that their are other people out there like us.

I believe there could be life on other planets. The odds of Earth being the only planet with life, given the several billion galaxies out there, each loaded with solar systems of their own... it'd be kinda hard to believe there isn't at least one another planet with some life on it. Personally I think there are millions of worlds with life on them, we just haven't discovered them yet.

Yes, I think there is probably life on other planets. As to their purpose, well, what is ours? I think it would be very similar to ours. I don't believe our creator is limited to just a three dimensonal world.

I think that to believe there ISNT life on other planets is foolish and arrogant on our part really....Why in all of everything should we believe that this planet in this solar system is the only habitable one? Lets face it who knows what there is BEYOND this solar system! There are probably numerous planets in other systems that are lived on outside of our range where "people" are asking the same thing that you just did :-D

If you believe in God and I do why would he make just one planet. I believe there are other planets with intelligent life on it. I do believe that we have been visited by life from other planets. As far fetched as people may think it is I think the other planets have life that is far more evolved than ourselves. When you look around on this planet and see the violence that exists it would seem meaningless to let the presence of a existing life from another planet be known. When you think about it the first the life on planet would want to do is take a life from another planet and take it apart to see what made it tick. Know I think those who have been from other planets and came down and landed on our planet were much to smart to let their presence known for fear what would be done to them if found out they were here.

Hi sunshinelady, Thank you for adding to this discussion. You make some very good points. I expect there are those far more advanced then us, there may be others less advanced. Technologically speaking, we are advanced, but when it comes to values, we don't have much to be proud of. We still think we can solve the world's problems by fighting each other. Thousands die from hunger every day, while others have more than they could spend in five lifetimes. In some countries, governments pay farmers not to grow crops, because they may have a surplus. We haven't learned how to stop violence... Sorry - guess I'm getting carried away again. As I said, good comment. Thank You.
