I think it is laziness.I tend to get lazy sometimes and postpone things. Mostly i find myself doing so regarding my actual Gym timings which is 6-30 in the morning. I get late in going to bed and find it difficult to open my eyes in the morning at 5-30 and thereby endup postponing my going to the gym to evening. My fellow mylotters.. I would like to have your opinions please.

Hi Anamika, to me mental illness is mental disorder which is so long lasting and severe that it interfere in persons ability to take part in major life activities and I think its a Major Depression. U r laziness is not a mental illness, it is just because of u r busy routine, as u work very hard. So" early to bed , early to rise. makes Anamika , healthy, wealthy and wise."

I don't consider laziness a mental illness. Maybe I'm not thinking alone the lines of what you're talking about. When I think of mental illness I think of dementia, schizophrenia, or depression.

Hi AmbiePam! Yeah.. I consider laziness as something which affects the mind and decisionmaking though technically it cannot be called an illness. I know and have experienced depression. But i have no idea of the other illnesses you mentioned.

This is a good topic you have floated for discussion! I can add that THE POWER EGO is the worst mental illness anyone can have! I know people will get surprized reading this but all other kind of mental illness has some kind of remedies, medicins, therapies etc but nothing is available or nothing is even preventive for this POWER EGO! And the irony is that who has such illness never consider as the illeness!

I believe Terminal Mental Illiness would be the worst. Especially if your life expectancy was less than a Month. It would be very hard to get your mind wrapped around your problem in that short time. Of course there are worse things that could happen. I remember back in the dirty 30's when the wind was so strong it was blowing the post holes away. So here's my opinion, (For what its worth,)Thank God I'm of sound mind!

the worst mental illness to me would be alzheimer's because your mind just starts to deteriorate until sometimes you don't even know the person that you've been with for 40 years and things like that. It is very sad.

Well no. I wouldn't agree with you, any illness with psychosis involved has to be worse than laziness. Major depression is also very uncomfortable for the person affected. Laziness is merely a character trait or indeed learnt behavior. Its not a mental illness. And in most cases if you try hard you can over come it.

Laziness can be evaded, if we find time for everything. The worst mental illness is Alzhemir decease for which Americas ex-president is a victim. It is such a worst mental illness that the patient will forget everything, including his/hers daily routine.

I think the worst is depression, it happens to so many people worldwide and not many people get it treated.

I couldn't get up that early either! Especially to exercise!!!! LOL! But really, what you're talking about is an attitude or a habit, not an illness. The worst mental illness to me would be hearing voices in my head. I've talked to people who have this problem and the bad thing about it is that the voices aren't saying nice things.

I think that Bi-polar aka manic depression is one of the worst mental illnesses. I have a friend who loses days at a time. Curled up in the fetal position on the floor for days. Different medications trying to find one that works on a semu monthly basis. Just when he is back on track and feeling good again, wham another bout of debilitating depression. I don't wish this illness on my worst enemies.

I feel that mental retardation is the worst illness anyone can have. Due to the fact that it is not normal in society, people tend to stare and make comments. Its sad but sometimes they were just born like that. Also their life expectancy is not long.

If you think laziness is the worst mental illness then you have never suffered from one before. I have been diagnosed with Bi-Polar disorder and Social Phobia and depression and let me tell you in my own opinion, these are the worst mental illnesses. Social phobia is so bad that you can't be around other people without having panic attacks. Because of this I can't work at a regular job. Bi-Polar means you have severe mood swings and take it out on others. I am on medication for all of it and it seems to be helping but I still can't go to a social gathering without having a panic attack. I get this from my dads side of the family and it is really bad. I don't feel like a normal person because of it.

I also get lazy on weekends. (I started a discussion on this topic, sometime back). Laziness should not be termed as mental illness. We tend to get lazy....and I believe, if there are not compulsions and pressures in life....we would like to remain lazy....LOL! (Mazboori...mai...sab karna padtai hai...karna kaun chaata..hai..LOL!)

Laziness is not a mental sickness though it involves the brain to mobilize the body to perform tasks assigned to each system. Mental illness, insanity, psychosis are caused by depressions, heavy and unresolved problems.

Laziness is not exactly a mental illness. I would say that it is a moral illness. Anyway you are right. Laziness keeps us from doing what we want or need to do. It is like having restrains. I guess it is something that affects anyone.

I am a bit lazy when it comes on to studying. I now hve to settle down for January because I will not be the one spending the money on these subjects. I think it will be a total loss and let down if I failed these subjects. i would take up the books and study for a while and for couple months I dont look in another one. Laziness does affects the mind and in my case the brain. If i am in a lazy mode and I tried to study I dont understand one word. Well, this is how I see it. you are not alone in this. I have started alot of things and behaved lazily towards accomplishing these goals.
