If yes, how many times had it happened to you?
What were the circumstances.
Did people tease you about it afterwards?
I think I've done it 3 or 4 times in my life.
Most recently, it was about a year ago at a softball tournament that my daughter was playing at. Lucily I didn't have to be anywhere in a hurry and roadside assistance was included with my car. It didn't take too long. I tried not to tell too many people about it. When I was younger and I did that, I got a lot of teasing from my family.

I believe I have only done it once....and it was at home & we had a spare key. But my husband doesn't dare say anything. Because he has done it more than me and we've had to purchase a new key for his truck everytime because we don't own a metal hanger. lol I finally made him buy two keys. One now sits on my keychain as well. lol

I have done it more times then I can count. As a result, I bought one of these plastic spring things that attaches to me and then my clothing.
One time, I was going on a job interval, it was pouring rain and I locked the keys in the car with the car running. I was lucky, when I got back the car was still there. I did not get the job though.

Yes, some time back I locked my keys in the ignition of my car. I had to get a repair man from the AA (Automobile Association, UK) to get into the car for me. The car I have now though, I cannot possibly do that because I need the key to lock it from the outside and that makes it impossible to lock the keys inside. :-)

Hi miamilady! I never did because I don't drive. haha.. However, my hubby forgot the car keys once and he has to go back home just to get the spare key. That happened only once because he learned his lesson well because our house was 10 miles away where the car was parked. Take care and have a ncie day!

lol my grandmother does that almost everytime she takes my mom grocery shopping, which is a weekly basis. She tends to leave the key in the ignition. My mom always keeps a spare in her purse just in case hehe.

It happened once to me when I parked my car inside our company and manually lock the door instead of locking it through the alarm system (turning it on). My officemate help me by trying to forcefully open the door through the window using a metal wire but to no avail. I just went home and get my duplicate key. From there on, I always keep a duplicate key in my pocket in case I will left my key inside my car once again.

I have never done this before and don't beleive their is much chance I will as we don't lock our doors unless we go out of town and that is not very often , We live in an area where people don't worry about locking their car doors . If it had happened or were to happen though , I am sure others would have a good laugh lol .

I've locked my keys in my car twice. Well, actually one time, it was my best friend. I didn't normally lock my car, and had just set my keys down, thinking I was only going to be a few minutes, because we were meeting someone. I went inside, and the person we were meeting wasn't there, so I came back out to tell my friend, who was still in the car. She jumped out and hit the lock button on her way. Ten minutes later when the person we were waiting for showed up, we realized what we had done. I had roadside assistance through my cell phone, but it was locked in the car, too! lol The person we were meeting had roadside assistance on his cell, too, and called for us.
The other time I locked my keys in the car, I was at Walmart. I was driving a pick up truck at the time. I had put all my stuff in the back and then got in and put the keys in the ignition. I got back out to get something out of the back so I could look at it when I called my sister. I slammed the door, and remembered that I had left my keys in there! I had to call my best friend from there and she went to my apartment and got my spare key and brought it to me. Luckily she had a key to my apartment, for just such an emergency! I felt really bad, though, because it happened on Valentine's Day, and she had this big evening planned with her boyfriend.

I've done it once, only because I was in a hurry to get to work and I had to get the base police to bring a slim jim to get them out.I was on a Navy base in San Diego and trying to get back to ship before I was late.I even had to do the Slim Jim myself which by the way are illegal.I took the slim jim from the cop after he had tried 3 or 4 times and finally I just said. Can I try that and I popped the lock on the 1st try.He asked me if I had ever done that before.I told him no,it was just luck I guess.

I have done it three times and each was under unusual circumstances. The first time was when I went to my car after shopping at a store and had already put my key in the ignition when I decided to go back in and get something else, I was still married then and called my wife who worked not far away who had a spare key to come let me in. The second time was with a rental car in CA and there was a mess up in unloading luggage at the hotel and we were rushed and I accidentally did it. The rental company had an office about 5 blocks away and I walked there to get another key. The third time was once again on a trip to CA after I was single and driven there and again I had gotten in my car and put my key in the ignition when I decided to walk around the area I been looking at again. But this time I had a spare key in my wallet having learned from the first time.

LOL I suddenly remembered my own experience! It happened 3 or 4 years ago, i think. I was driving a really old car where you didn't need the key to lock the door, so it was easy to forget your keys hanging in the ignition -- unlike with the new cars where the locking device is attached to the key. Anyway, I was at the mall to buy something and when I went back to my car, sure enough my keys were inside. Good thing my brother-in-law worked nearby and he was able to come over quickly. He did something to the locks that would probably have looked to passers-by like he was stealing my car. I got a little bit of teasing from my sister afterward but the incident was soon forgotten.

Haven't done it at all in my life. *CHEERS*
Maybe its because I'm an odd meticulous character anyways. You should see me checking alarms, safeties, and just when I'm doing plain chores.
One thing that helps me keep my keys in order (and out of a locked car) is to have the keys in one particular pocket (for people using purses, assign a particular pocket to your keys only). Get in the habit of making that pocket the key pocket and check it often, especially when getting out of the car. Another thing I do is have a short keychain band which I can either wear around the neck (my keys have Flash Drives on them so yea I do this at times) or I tie it around my wrist so I can get that visual cue (I find myself doing this much more often). You can even wear the carkey with its key chain as a ring when you are getting out of the car. Anything can help so that's why I suggest these things.
And for the cheap shot response, if you still have trouble with locking keys in the car, there is always onstar. ;p

Nope, but I know my dad has once by accident. My dad went out for a quick break due to a long driving sessions, and my little sister at the time, trying to do right thing and follow him, went out of the car and locked all the doors, with the keys still inside. So I guess that still counts as having your keys inside your locked car.

I have done this about three or four times in my life. I am very careful about it now, because I hate not being able to get in my car when I am out somewhere, it is embarrassing! That's great that you had roadside assistance.

I've done it so many times, it's pathetic. But the last time was many years ago. A few years ago my husband left his keys in the car at work, someone took his car and dumped it in a mine shaft, 28 feet deep. Since then, I have this habit of getting out of the car with my keys in my hand, not putting them in my purse yet until the door's shut so I know I have them. Plus I have an extra of my husband's car key and he has mine so we don't have to call anyone else.
