How many of you have Windows Vista? How many of you like it? I HATE IT!!! Nothing works with it...I can no longer use my Photoshop Elements, or upload pictures to Walgreens to have them printed...it seems like none of my favorite programs works correctly. I work from home and even though the company has told me that the system is now Windows Vista Compatible...I have had nothing but problem after problem with it! If anybody knows solutions...I would be more than happy to hear it!!!

We just got a new computer and have not had any problems with Vista. The only thing that we had a problem with was something to do with conecting to the internet and that was throught the internet company. They took care of it.
I hope it all gets better.

Hi,
I'm also having an experience with windows vista. Like what did you say?For you info it still in prototype.More bugs to be fixing and solve. Now microsoft Company still released the vista to get the respondent or feedback from the user.So you need to take a time for Microsoft fix all the problem to make the vista stable to use with other software. You just wait it 4 to 5 years until they finish to fix it.

I installed Windows Vista for my colleague some time ago. At the beginning we loved it because it looked nice. However, when she used it alone at home, she found many troubles. Such as she couldn't get online and it seems many things don't support Vista. So I have to reinstall the Windows XP for her again.

I switched to Mac because I didn't want to have Vista. On my Mac I also run windows xp and that's ok for me. I also run Linux on it sometimes I run them all at once that's fun. Just like dragging and dropping files from Windows to Mac and back. But I must say I haven't tried Vista. I really have no need for it.

Unfortunately no solutions from me Amy. I dont have windows vista myself and dont want it as for now, but my daughter is bugging me to get it for her. Personally i have heard nothing but bad things with that programme and honestly i am not surprized. It was the same when XP came out, there was loads of teething problems too.
One thing though i just got to think about is this: Make sure you have your automatic updates switched on og you can go to the homepage and look for updates. I remember when XP first came out, there was loads of problems with that too, but they soon got around it and solved the problems along the way by sending you daily updates/upgradings. Obviously you need to be allow them to be able to do so. Good Luck with it. I will prob have it with my next laptop, hope all will be sorted by then.

I'm in the same boat as you. My mother board burned out in my old comp and I had to get a new tower. It has windows vista and I can't do a third of the things I could with my old computer. It didn't come with a photoshop, I can only use the writing program a certain amount of times, and I can't use the scanner on my printer/copier/scanner. I asked my brother to try and find me a motherboard. If he does I'll save the money and get my old one back up and running and maybe give my new one to my dad to play games on.

If I had a choice I would still prefer XP Professional. It has served me well for the last several years. Unfortunately all new computers in the U.S. are now equipped with Vista. I find it more complicated. These companies seem to think that the more complicated, the better.

We have it running on one of our computer that we are mainly using for media. To be perfectly honest we really haven't used that machine very much since loading Vista on it. Like you said it's just not compatible with enough right now. Just last week one of our clients bought a laptop with Vista on it (against our advice). Well once she got it to college and went to hook up her printer of course the printer drivers aren't Vista compatible. I've always advised people to wait a bit longer until the bugs are worked out to start purchasing Vista. Right now it's just not worth the trouble.

I know, when I bought my new computer it came equipped with Windows Vista. Now, my printer, my photoshop and just about everything I had before is not compatible with Vista. I don't know of any solutions, I have been trying to download software to get my printer working and have done it three times with no success! Wish you luck!

I'm still on XP on laptop, linux on another comp. I've been hearing more and more horror stories about Vista. Security issues, programming issues, compatibility issues (I know someone who had to get an entire block of software, bout $10k to bring is computer back to code on the Vista machine).
Sorry about your problem Amy. If you can, you can always look for past machines or even some stock PCs/laptops with XP on them. Most of the lower end stuff is pretty decent. I only say this because most Vista to XP transitions on the comp are full of hassles. Two of my friends said to heck with it, and one bought a modest pc (@300). Good luck with the problem, hope it turns out better.
By the way this thread has reached its critical mass "cancel or allow?" ;p
