I think I am a good swimmer, even though I don't get to swim that much anymore. I can basically swim in all the styles, freestyle, backstroke, breastroke and butterfly. But this last one only for a bit, it really gets tiring hehe.
I learned in a swimming pool, and it feels great to be able to swim.
Can you swim? when and where did you learn?

glad you do it well on butterfly...not everyone can say the same since it's the most complicated style. thanks for replying.

basically don't get nervous, be relaxed. It's also important to impulse yourself powerfully with your legs, that will keep you afloat and it'll be easier to move your arms.

i learned it about 3 years ago in a swimming pool too,and every summer since then,i swim every 3 or 4 days, maybe after 5 times i catch a tip to learn whatever kinds of swimming style, which is hold the breathe and let it be,imagine the movement and do it----more than 3 times i think you will learn:)

It took me almost drowning when I was a kid, but a couple of weeks after that near miss my mom had me at summer camp in swim class. I still have a fear of water because of it but I can swim like a fish, so I never panic. I could swim to safety if I get in a tight spot.

I can swim but I was never co-ordinated enough to master the butterfly stroke! My older brother taught me to swim when I was a young girl of about 5 or 6! I have always made sure that my children are able to swim as well - having said all that my back problems make it virtually impossible for me to swim at the moment, even in the water it requires too much effort from my back to let me swim easily! xxx

Well my Father taught me to swim from a very early age - both in the local Swimming Pool, and on family weekends and holidays to the South Coast. To be honest I don't much enjoy it, and certainly wouldn't go swimming for pleasure - I'm not much into doing any sports really - more a spectator than a doer. However, I think it's vital that everyone should be able to swim - it could iterally save your life one day, and the younger and earlier that children learn the better it is inmy opinion.

I can swim and even before i had formal training, I had always been swimming. But since I had given birth and gained more weight that I ought to, i had become a weak swimmer. However, I am already on my way to remedy that by getting back into shape.

Yes! I can swim.. as far as I can remember.. I think I learned how to swim because I was gonna drown that time If i don't swim or just flop my arms.. so I did. But I swallowed some water too .. I was still about 6 years old that time .. my mom was just beside me but I decided to like float farther.. but when I tried to reach my feet bottom , thats when I noticed that I'm drowning.. so I swam for my life! :)

It was decades ago when I could swim - when I was still in the womb :P
Two decades later, I took up swimming during my PE lessons which is an hour. It took us 10 minutes to walk to the nearby pool. However, it was only once a week and for a term, which I think is about 10 weeks. Did I get to become a professional swimmer? lol. In my dream, yes.

I learned swiming in the school but i have not tried for year now, may be 15 years so its now hard for me to swim right now I think. Bt if I want I can get it again after practicing for one week or so. I have hard once you learn to swim its hard to for get it and same with cyclin. So I hope I still can if I want seriously.but I ca only do the freestyle may be.

When I was growing up my family ran the city swimming pool so I was there every day. I made sure my kids knew how to swim. That is one of my biggets fears. We put a pool up at our house when the kids were young so I could swim with them. Now that they are older they do not spend much time in it. Just knowing that they know how to swim makes it worth the money.

No too bad, I can't swim! I remember my dad tried to teach me when I was very young and I guess I just don't have the talent or something. I still can't swim (not that I have tried to learn). Anyway, it doesn't really matter to be. Maybe I will learn it later on.

I can swim, but I'm not a strong swimmer. I like to swim laps, but I can't do any "tricks."

Yes I can swim....I'm not the best swimmer but I can. All the four types are known to me but I'm comfortable with freestyle.

hey,
i never learnt swimming properly from anyone. But once when i went to an amusement park, there was a swimming pool which was about 9 feet deep. I went in to it and i was able to float continuously without any difficulty. I felt really proud about that.
