I normally put my cell phone with its screen facing upwards.. If I put it the other way, scratches will start appearing on its screen, coz not all surfaces are smooth, and when the phone gets vibrating, scratches will emerge on the screen.. So, I always prefer putting it with its screen facing upwards... And that's also the right way to put ur cell phone down.. Don't know why ur mates put their cell phones that way... Maybe they had something to hide... Something like their ex-galfrnds' calls... Can't make out exactly... But that's the closest I can get to why they put their cell phone that way...

it could scratch and spoil the screen if i put the mob facedown. yes, unless i wanted someone with me not to see who was calling me.lol. dont get any ideas but this is also a possibility. just dont beat me for this please.
love, apple.

You're right! Exactly what I was thinking when I started this topic. Face down, does it mean that those people have something to hide? Anyway, it's in the past!

I put my cellphone face up, so I can see who sends me a message or calls me. But I know put my mobile unit on a holder, because I don't receive much of texts or calls from them!;) I find it money-saving, as I don't have to worry pay for costly bills..

I always keep my cell phone face-up. My reason is to avoid scratching of the front screen. More over I have got nothing to hide.

You're reading my mind. I found out that those people I knew were kind of hiding something from me *laughs* at the time.

I take care that when my cellphone is on the table its screen remains upward as keeping it upside down would mean that i am risking scratches on the screen which i surely would like to avoid.

well, i am not one of your ex-s so i always face them up eventhough that my phone's speakers are situated at the back part of the phone.Anyway, i can see it lit if someone texts or calls me and besides it would be impossible for me to hear the tone when i am inside a bar.

Face up, since it's the best way to avoid that the display gets scratched.

I always keep it face upwards only.I always handle my cell phone with care.iam using it for more than 2 years but stil it looks to be a brand new one.i dont want my cell to get scratches by plaing it somewhere facing down.
also i can see messages or calls only when i place it upwards.

Hi wondericequeen! I normally place my cell phone on the table face up. I guess, I have been doing that ever since I remember. I guess it became a habit without really thinking or realizing the reason why I prefer it that way. Take care and have a nice day!

well, most of the times i keep the face/screen of my mobile up because i am very conscious about my possessions and always try to protect them..nothing to criticize those who do opposite to me..but you can say its my habit and i do it to prevent the screen of my cell from getting scratched if by chance it slips and also while keeping face down it can get some scratches ..so just to prevent such incidences i keep the face up only..sometimes when i keep it on some soft cloth or sheet while sleeping i keep it facing down like on those occasions when i want to sleep undisturbed i keep it on silent mode as well as facing down so that even if somebody calls although i may not hear it..but just to prevent the flash light on receiving an incoming call..as my cell phone's flash light is very strong..
